FINALLY! I posted a video of my Flying Raider Battle-Barge! Sail with me to Burning Springs, Toxic Valley, The Mire & The Ash Heap!
See you in the wasteland!
So, since the community has been relieving their complaints here about the next upcoming update, I thought I'd provide an alternative way to frame this update.
My personal opinion on infestations is that it's a very easy and safe update to the game. It's not really what players want, I've been playing since BETA, and I have no motivation to engage in this content/update.
BUT, let me reframe this update in a way that WOULD get me excited for these new infestations:
So if you had played Burning Springs, and through the Rust Kings small questline, you would know that the Rust King had spies everywhere. He has his raiders scouring Ohio with thier deathclaws, and said if he wanted Appalachia... he could easily take it over.
As people played the Burning Springs update, players found the Rust Army flags scattered around Appalachia, Tyler County Dirt Track, and around the Toxic Valley. Although they were mysteriously taken away in a patch in January, I guess?
Here's my solution, let the Rust Kings Army infest Appalachia. Let his raiders maybe make alliances with the Blood Eagles or the mutants of Appalachia.
Bethesda could've made lieutenants for the Rust King, and they took over key spots in Appalachia to prepare for an invasion. Story-wise, it makes sense, and if not, the Rust King could just shrug it off as he told them to show how worthy they are. You know, giant mutant raider bullshit.
Your enemy types coulda been: Rust Raiders, Mutants, Robots, Deathclaws, Blood Eagles, Raiders, and Cryptids.
This wouldn't have stopped the criticisms of how infestations work, but it would've at least added to the story narrative of the previous update. Build the world out a little more.
You could even make each miniboss have a key to unlock rewards at a Rust Stronghold or even at the Rust Kingdom! Bring the Rust King a necklace of ears for a reward. Just a thought.
I don't know, man. I think we just need more flavor to this update than another random enemy hunt. We have enough of those.
Let me know what ya'll think.
