Newbie! Give me your tips for beginners.

I just got into colouring. I've bought a Cosy colouring book and a 40 pack of graphic markers from the brand Born.

I've done a couple of pages and I'm happy with them given I just started, but I want to step up my colourings. I use a lot of solid colours, I want to get better at fading colours and shading. I want my colourings to look like artwork, I want them to stand out- that's the goal.

What tips do you have to step up your drawings and take them from good to great? Also, how do I get better at recognising and using colour effectively? What I mean is, I currently struggle to know what colours go well together.

Thanks in advance 🌈🙏🏽

I love the song Nusrat but I don't see why it's called Nusrat- it doesn't seem to have anything in its style or lyrics that relates to NFAK.

My theories are that maybe it's for aesthetics, maybe it's the layering of the vocals? But past that, I don't get it. I am curious if anyone else knows

I see a young man who has in his tweens and started therapy about a year ago. He has ASD and ID, and is a GLP. Loves puzzles and games. He speaks in a lottttt of scripts, loves asking questions and getting you to answer them (e.g "can a cat make cookies", "does a fish sit in a chair" "where is dad").

The work we were doing for most of the last year was around communicative functions (especially requesting) and giving him some functional new scripts by recasting the ones he has. I came to every session with a pen and paper, writing down what he was saying and trying to decode it.

I have found we haven't had much success in these areas. Part of me knows that he will take time to learn (a year isn't a long time when you consider his diagnoses), but I also question my own strategies- a lot of modelling and recasting. These are strategies I'd use with much younger clients, normally.

But now he is at a new school this year, and we have a fresh start. I've tried to get in contact with his teachers about what the challenges at school are but haven't heard anything. I'm curious to know from you all though, what advice would you give about what to do next? I can keep going with our current goals, they are functional but the success has been super slow and I question a) if my strategies are appropriate; b) if there are other skills I can be prioritising that might be more functional. Especially considering that he's at a new school, new environment and as he enters his teen years, he's going to be facing new challenges.

Would love to pick your brains! He is a unicorn in my caseload haha

My mum has dental problems which make it hard for her to eat hard toast- just so happens that so many breakfast places use breads like sourdough and don't have options for softer bread available.

Can anyone request a cafe that has soft bread available? Bonus if Northside
