Dating a Cruise Worker

Anyone have any experience with dating someone who works on a cruise ship? I'm mostly just trying to understand the logistics of being able to leave the ship as a worker, are they actually working 12 hours shifts, 7 days/week? Like how bad are the conditions for them?

Does anyone have any experience with dating someone who works on a cruise ship? I feel like I need to understand the disembarkation process for a worker better. I Met a guy on a NCL cruise, the ship docks at the port near my home every weekend, in which we agreed to meet on the weekends. But twice there were ship delays in which prevented us from meeting. And he has explained the process to me, but English is his second language so I feel like I’m not getting the full story. He has told me once that he was able to get off the ship smoothly at 8 AM. Another time he has told me that he’s not allowed to leave the ship until all the guest leave? Another time he has told me that he needs to get permission from security to leave the ship. Something is suspicious/off and I’m not sure if I just don’t understand the process, or it’s him.
