Hi all, I was accepted to the life sciences degree at mac this year, and while I also applied for healthsci, I was rejected despite having a supp app which I personally still cant see how I could have made it better, and a 98 average.

I wanted to know if you were to aim for the medschool path and ultimately become a dermatologist or an orthopoedic surgeon, how would lifesci prepare you?

For some background knowledge, Im in the ib program and currently have a 44/45, and I know that gpa along with ecs such as clinical hours and publishing research is a nontrivial part of applying of med school.

With that said, despite the gpa problem, which can be gapped with a bit more effort spent, are there research and clinical opportunities for lifesci students? If there is, what is an approach to obtain these opportunities and how easily can these opportunities be obtained?

Lastly, for anyone in the program or have some insight in the program, are there suggestions of electives or studying methods that you would give to lifesci first years? Im currently deciding between mac lifesci and western medsci.

Thank you all for any help that can be offered.
