Those who have taken mobile contracts through EIR on their website, do they do credit checks and if so has anyone failed these credit checks and had their upfront cost refunded to them?

I am looking to contract 2 mobiles with them, having already broadband with them, the devices are 649 each up front so 1299 odd in total online.

However, I called them and they didn't sound too convincing or ingenious when I asked if I were to place the order, if it would fail and I would need to wait for a refund.

They at one point said "yes you are eligible" followed by "you have to take out sim only first" followed by "can I put you on hold for a minute" to coming back and saying "yes you can take a contract but its 999 euro for one device upfront". Obviously the price is way higher than I would be willing to spend so changed my mind.

So for those having experience with EIR, should I place the order online and hope for the best or hold off? What is your advise?

I still own a SFL 3 i7, 32GB, 1TB.

Use it mainly for college, occasionally to watch videos. I don't think I've ever heard the fans kick in on this. Its a work horse.

I use MATLAB, SPICE and such, running all at once whilst also having multiple word docs and forgetting them open for days, meanwhile I would also be watching YT.

I've never been more pleased with a laptop than this. May I add, it is completely debloated and running a local account on Win11.

I am however thinking of upgrading but hoping to be convinced not to, I have a tendency to act on impulsion.

I am also curious if there are others out there also working with the same hardware and what paces it has been put through.

I am looking to get an intel based MacBook pro, I am an electronics engineering student and in my studies I rely on x86 based programs some of which are quite old programs. I am currently using an MS Surface Laptop 3, i7, 32gb and 1tb.

However I will start a new job which requires macOS for analysis.

I am aware of the M based macs but I am tied to using intel.

What would be the best choice? the 2019 i9, which I hear has thermal throttling issues or the 2020 i7?

It would be an added bonus to have a dedicated gpu.
