Unwanted promotion at work

Wondering if anyone has dealt with a similar situation - I'm at a bit of a loss.

My boss has just announced she's quitting. She wants me to take over line-managing the other 2 members of our team. I don't want to do that.

I enjoy my job. I've got a decent work/life balance. I'm paid well. And I have absolutely zero desire to be a manager. I've tried managing people in the past and I'm not good at it. I want to spend time on work - not approving timesheets, dealing with disciplinaries, performing end-of-year-reviews and the like.

There's no extra pay (obviously!) but even if there was, it's not the right direction for me, my career, or the team.

When she raised this, I politely declined. Her response was "well, you may not have a choice. I'm leaving and we need someone to manage the team."

I'm at a loss as to what to do. I've only been there for 3 months so have very few rights if they decide to get rid of me. Although that's probably unlikely.

I guess what I'm asking is - how do I refuse a promotion ?

AIO I finally told my nosey sister to mind her damn business.

I’m 24M and lately my older sister is 33 and I feel like she has been overstepping important boundaries. I live alone, work full time, pay my own bills, and don’t ask her for money or support, but she constantly comments on how I spend my money and what I do in my dating life.

A few days ago I bought myself a new gaming PC because gaming is one of the few hobbies that genuinely helps me relax after work. I live near my parent's house and she came by unannounced and saw it and started lecturing about how it was a waste of money and how I should be spending it on "more productive things" or saving for the future. Meanwhile she spends tons of money on random makeup and jewelry stuff herself but apparently when I buy something for myself it becomes a problem.

Then she started prying into my dating life again and asking if I've been talking to any girls and what my type is. This really irritated me because she asked about this before and I had told her it's inappropriate to me. I snapped and told her to get out and mind her own fucking business and don't talk to me unless she respects me as an adult. Was I right?

I’m 24M and lately my older sister has been acting like she’s my second mother instead of my sibling. I work full time, pay my own bills, and don’t ask her for money or support, but she constantly comments on how I spend my money and what I do in my dating life.

A few days ago I bought myself a new gaming PC because gaming is one of the few hobbies that genuinely helps me relax after work. She saw my post on Instagram and called me, lecturing about how it was a waste of money and how I should be spending it on "more productive things" or saving for the future. Meanwhile she spends tons of money on random stuff herself but apparently when I buy something for myself it becomes a problem.

Then she started prying into my dating life again and asking about what I'm most attracted to in a woman. This really irritated me because she asked about this before and I had told her it's inappropriate to me. I snapped and told her to mind her own fucking business and don't talk to me unless she respects me as an adult. Was I right?
