Hey everyone,

I took the NYPD 9-1-1 Police Communications Technician exam in late April 2026 and passed. I already received my ED number and I’m currently filling out all the paperwork on the NYPD candidate portal.

I was wondering if anyone else who took the April 2026 exam has received an investigator email yet or gotten any appointment dates scheduled.

Also, for anyone who already went through the process and got hired, what should I expect next? How long did everything take for you, and what was the process like from start to finish?

Any advice, timelines, or things I should prepare for would really help. Thanks!

Hey everyone,

I have an 8-month-old male Havanese who’s scheduled to get neutered next month, and potty training has been… rough.

At first, we had an area rug in the living room and he kept using that. I got rid of it, thinking that would fix things, but now he just goes everywhere in the house. No consistency at all.

Here’s the part that’s really confusing me — I take him out A LOT. Like:

5:30 AM

11 AM

2 PM

6 PM

9 PM

and a quick walk around 10 PM

So he’s definitely getting plenty of chances. The problem is… he just doesn’t pee outside. At all. The walks are basically just walks to him. Then we come back inside and boom — he goes in the house.

He’ll occasionally use a pad, but not reliably. And the person I got him from said he was already house-trained, which honestly doesn’t seem true based on what I’m dealing with now.

I’m starting to feel like I’m doing something wrong or missing something obvious. Has anyone dealt with this before? How do you get a dog to actually go outside when they’re clearly holding it?

Any advice would seriously help 🙏
