I’ve been thinking about something and I’d really like to understand different perspectives.
In many European countries right now, there seems to be a lot of hostility toward women who wear the hijab. People get strange looks, and in some cases women have even been verbally or physically attacked.
So my question is: why is it expected that Muslim women take on this kind of risk, while men generally don’t face the same thing?
From both a religious and biological perspective, men are often considered physically stronger. So why are women the ones who may end up being more exposed and vulnerable in public?
It feels a bit confusing to me. If wearing the hijab can put someone at risk in certain environments, how is that still considered the right thing to do? Shouldn’t personal safety matter too?
I wear the hijab myself, and I’m not trying to be disrespectful — I genuinely want to understand how others think about this.
