Feel Disgusting

I went for an initial scleral lens session today. I have been getting 20/20 in my left eye and 20/100 in my right with glasses but static vision due to HOA which makes me miss the small details. My fitter gave me some rgps to do some vision tests and I looked in the personal mirror next to me. My God, I haven't seen so much detail on my face in 5 years, I had no idea of the imperfections. Red blotches, strands of hair missed from shaving, red veins in my eyes, dry crackling skin, small spots. I felt disgusting that I let it get that bad. I thought my vision was good enough to see this stuff but I've seem to have forgotten how good my vision should be.

Burning Bridges

I've noticed over the years that I can be extremely loyal and equally disloyal. I formed some of the strongest bonds with people that last years and then find a way to destroy them in days/weeks. It's like I subconsciously know the relationship is rocky or possibly coming to an end and I just f*** it all up.

I'm now finding as I get older that I have less and less friends. That I don't value relationships as much as I used to. Part of me is happy to be away from drama and distractions but the other part of me is fairly lonely.

I've noticed one two other guys with ADHD I knew growing up also messed up relationships through snakey behavior. Does anyone else feel this way ? Do you know how to stop it ?

UFC 6 Beta: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Okay as a religious UFC player for the past 10 years and hitting division 20 in each game, here are my thoughts on the beta.

The Good:

- The menu presentation is the best we've seen so far. It's clean, user friendly and is artistically pleasing. The lighting in the fighter selection is pretty cool.

- Fighter likeness - it looks like fighters now only have a strike set that represents what they use in real life. Fighters strike like they do in real life with more personal animations and stances, poatan now feels like poatan.

- The fighter models look way more realistic (except tiny torso ddp). The muscles and loose skin seem to jiggle/wobble more realistically now. Damage looks more gruesome!!

- Damage now feels more realistic. You can knock someone out without having to rock and drop them 10 times. You can be punished badly in this game for not covering up or using proper timing. Although I haven't seen early one punch KOs, there is still high risk/reward scenarios that can dictate how the fight goes (no catch-up bs mechanics). 3-4 punch combo from poatan can end it.

- Fluidity is similar to ufc2 but more realistic. Starting a 5 punch combo on the body and ending on the chin feels fast and clean!

- blocking and slipping - slipping looks cool AF with proper animations that reflect how bobbing and weaving actually looks in a fight. A lean back into a straight punch makes you look and feel like Mayweather. Blocking animations looks great also, are easier to break and stop even less damage.

- Playing aggressive or playing defensive feels more balanced. You have to be more skilled in either of these play styles. You can't just spam as an aggressive player and you can't just run away all the time as a defensive player. A player that can do both well will be a high division player.

The Bad:

- The ground grappling is still the same.....like how long has the player base asked for this to change, it's ridiculous at this stage. EA have only added a few more transitions by the looks of it but the lay and pray style still dominates with no changes for Fluidity.

- There is a gym selection on the menu. Here you can upgrade real fighters by using them online. I didn't read much into it but it looks like you can put cosmetics on them to use in online play. Cosmetics shouldn't be in a UFC game. If this is in ranked.....

- Clinch grappling is the same.....

- Striking controls changed again. It seems they do this to make the game feel different but I can't see how some of these new inputs help with the flow of a fight or feel more seamless. There doesn't seem to be a method to the layout, at least in ufc 5 we knew the spin input would lead to 3-4 different spin attacks.

- The usual greedy EA bs of trying to get us to pay double the price for content that should be in the game. Plus the early access to people who pre-order. It shows how they see us.

The Ugly:

- Flow state. I kinda like the mechanic but it's not needed/wanted, I absolutely hate the cartoony visuals. Why does EA do this s***....

- Goofy KOs. There seems to be even more glitches when KOs happen. The way a fighter drops to the ground doesn't look realistic at times and they end up in embarrassing positions. It makes the cool cinematic slow mo KO camera look ridiculous. Hopefully EA works on this.

- Arcady striking sounds and UI. It's like the khumite mode with over the top thumps from strikes. The UI during the fight feels Arcady too. They should be looking at realistic immersion over this.

- There still seems to be legacy glitches that they need to flesh out for the release.

- The blue tint to trick us into thinking that UFC 6 is not using UFC 5 resources.

- There is a shockwave effect when shots land, it looks pretty cool on the feet I guess. On the ground when you are throwing baby taps in half guard that do no damage, this effect looks a bit stupid. They need to tone it down.
