really struggling with OCR A biology module 6 after missing most of it in year 13 - no idea how to relearn it before exams

i’m resitting OCR A biology and i’m really struggling with Module 6 (mostly the DNA topics - Manipulating Genomes etc). towards the end of year 13 i was really ill and missed a lot of the teaching for module 6, so now i basically have no proper notes and feel like i never properly understood the topic in the first place.

i feel like i can memorise isolated facts/steps but i don’t actually understand what’s happening overall, so everything just blurs together and confuses me. the revision guide i have feel SO wordy and full of detail and i genuinely cannot tell what’s actually important for OCR A and what is just extra practical/background explanation.

does anyone have advice/resources for relearning module 6 from scratch in a way that actually makes sense logically? especially for understanding the bigger picture/processes rather than just blindly memorising steps.

exams are next month i am so stressed 🫠

I’m currently studying for my exams (A-levels) at home, and I feel really detached, like everything’s a bit unreal.

I’m barely going out at the moment. I just revise every day, and all the days are starting to blur together. I don’t really have a way of getting out either (I can’t drive, I live quite rurally, and I don’t really have people nearby), and realistically I do need to be studying right now anyway.

The issue is that even though I know my exams are soon, it doesn’t actually feel real or urgent. That’s stressing me out because I need to be taking it more seriously, but I just can’t seem to get into that mindset.

I also tend to dissociate or avoid things when I’m stressed, and I think that’s partly what’s happening now. Instead of feeling motivated, I just feel spaced out and disconnected, like I’m not fully present. I’ll sit at my desk for hours and get basically nothing done because I can’t focus. And I can't not leave everything until the last minute.

Has anyone else experienced this while revising? How did you deal with it? How do you actually snap out of this and get yourself to focus again?

Any advice would really help.

I’m looking for a good eyeliner for my water line in a cool-toned light nude/pink shade. Most “nude” liners I’ve tried pull quite orange or end up darker than my actual skin tone, which kind of defeats the purpose. Ideally also something with good staying power and drugstore price range. Thank you

i’m mainly trying to work out which topics tend to be the most high-yield overall, and what’s worth prioritising in revision. if anyone has any predictions for this year’s papers as well, that would be really helpful. thank you

I am self-teaching AQA A-level Sociology and I am struggling with how to plan essays effectively in exam conditions.

My tutor has taught me how to structure essays using the AO1 (knowledge), AO2 (application), AO3a (analysis) and AO3e (evaluation) structure, but I find it difficult to clearly understand what each of these involves in practice or what the difference between them is, particularly AO3. I also struggle to generate these points quickly under time pressure.

How much depth should an essay plan have in an AQA A-level Sociology exam, and what should it actually consist of (e.g. how much to include for AO1, AO2, AO3a and AO3e)?

I would appreciate it if anyone could help me distinguish between each of the AOs or explain what a realistic 5-minute essay plan looks like in an exam. Thank you

I’ve been using the curl jelly one for a few weeks and, although it hasn’t been drying my hair out, I don’t find that it cleanses my scalp well enough or lathers very well. I struggle to find a balance between a shampoo being too drying and not cleansing enough. Does anyone have any other suggestions from the brand, or others in a similar price range? Thank you

i feel like i’ll do a few questions, correct my mistakes and then just… not really take anything from it. how do people actually use exam questions to improve their grades? especially with exams in 1.5 months. i do OCR A-level Biology.

i’m revising a level biology (OCR A) and i’m basically learning a lot of the content from scratch with about 5–6 weeks left, and i genuinely don’t know what resource to rely on

i need something that gives me enough content to actually reach a C/B, but doesn’t overload me with unnecessary detail. right now everything feels like either too vague or way too much, and it’s making it really hard to make progress

i’ve already tried using the CGP revision guide, but i don’t like the way it’s written and it feels like it misses certain examples or details from the spec. i’ve also tried more detailed notes (like STEMpathy) and videos, but they just overwhelm me and i can’t retain it

i know exam questions are important, but learning purely from mark schemes does not work for me and just confuses me more, so that isn’t really a solution

i’m basically stuck trying to find one main resource that is clear, structured, and actually enough for the spec without being excessive

if anyone has been in a similar position or has a resource that worked for them for OCR A biology, please let me know what you used and how you used it day-to-day
