I'm happy again with my upgrade.
My 11th generation 2024 Kindle broke, and Amazon gave me a coupon worth 100% of its value.
With the coupon, I took the opportunity to upgrade to the Paperwhite, I also winterbreak it, as it made sense to me.

I’m planning to buy a Kindle Paperwhite (12th Gen) soon, and I’m specifically looking to jailbreak it. I’ve heard that if I buy it now, it might still ship with firmware version 5.17, which is great because I know version 5.19 (the current one) doesn't have a jailbreak yet.
I’ve heard about a specific "storage trick" to prevent the device from updating itself immediately, but I’m not sure if I have the steps right. Here is what I think I should do:
When buying from Amazon, I must select the "This is a gift" option so it doesn’t come pre-registered to my account.
Once I receive it, do not turn it on or connect to Wi-Fi.
Connect it to a computer via USB first and fill up the internal storage with random files until there is only about 50MB of space left.
After that... I’m not sure what the next steps are.
(Actually, I don't even know if these steps are correct.)
I only have one shot at this. If the Kindle updates to 5.19, it’s game over for the jailbreak.
Could someone please explain the entire process to me step-by-step, as if I’m a complete idiot? I really need a "for dummies" guide so I don’t mess this up. What exactly should I do from the moment I open the box until the jailbreak is safe?
Thanks in advance for the help!
