Almost 1 year old still waking every 2 hours

My breastfed 11 month old is still waking about every 2 hours. It takes me at least 30 minutes to get him back down, though sometimes, like tonight, I am up with him for 90-120 hours trying to get him back down. So at this point, at best I am getting about 90 minutes of sleep at a time. I am a SAHM to him and my 2.5 year old. My family is currently going through an extremely distressing time with my dad very very ill, so I am also traveling frequently alone with my boys to go see my dad. With all of that being said, I am running on E. I find myself very impatient throughout the day and am not the mom or the spouse I would like to be right now. I truly do not want to do anything close to CIO, but I just don’t know what to do anymore. I have got to get some sleep. Between pregnancy, my first born, and now him, I have not slept through the night in about 3 years. We bed shared until around 6 months when it just stopped working because he was wide awake every wake up wanting to play. Now when I try, he immediately screams and sits up, trying to crawl around the bed. He is a big boy and I am more petite, so walking around with him or holding him and trying to make him comfortable for extend amounts of time throughout the night is really taking a toll on my body. My husband has a demanding job with very early hours, so nights are almost 100% on me, though he will help with no problem when I just can’t take it anymore.

I am desperate for advice.

My 2.5 year old used to wake up and just relax and hang out for a few minutes until we got him. The last few weeks, he wakes up and immediately starts whining and crying. Once I enter the room, he starts screaming and crying. This happens whether he’s waking up from a nap or first thing in the morning and no matter how much sleep he got. Any ideas?

Thanks!
