I am writing this in pain right now.

I have been suffering since January, after every bowel movement it felt like someone had stuck a corkscrew up my bum hole and was twisting it. Not right away, but around an hour later.

This pain would render me out of action for around 12 - 16 hours. It is the worst pain I have ever felt, constant with no respite from it.. can't sit down, can't stand up, can't lie down, can't walk, can't sleep, can't eat. There had been times that I considered ending it all, not being dramatic.

The only position that seemed to reduce the pain slightly, and I mean slightly was on my knees, head on the floor, and bum in the air whilst applying pressure to my cheeks.

I was afraid to eat, I would go 2 - 3 days without having anything, because if nothing goes in then nothing will come out. Lost so much weight.

Doctor prescribed me GTN ointment and stool softeners, made no difference. Then Diltiazem cream, lidocaine cream (vagisil) and more stool softeners. Still the same. The pain was unbearable. Lidocaine cream caused an intense and painful burning, stinging feeling that I would wipe it off pretty much straight away. I saw a private colorectal surgeon and was listed for Botox, but had to finish the course of Diltiazem first.

By this point, I could not cope anymore. The pain was too much. I ended up at the hospital in A&E. I was listed for emergency Botox the next day. This was 3 weeks ago.

I am still on the stool softeners, and I am still in pain after every BM (sometimes there's blood, sometimes there isn't) but it's more of an irritating pain and nowhere near what it was like before. I am still off work because I have found that now when I get the urge to poo, I have to go right away. No more being able to ignore and hold it in.

I have had gastro issues prior to this and my BM frequency was odd but worked for me. The gastro doctor suggested I take Fybogel fibre supplements, which I did and these bunged me up for 6 days with no BM. I feel this is what caused my fissure.

I too have a large skin tag (sentinel pile?) which the private surgeon said he possibly wouldn't be able to remove because this can cause the fissure to get worse, so I guess I will have to wait for that.

Now when I go to the toilet, it feels like the side of my bum hole is hard and a big lump comes out. I am not sure if this is where the Botox is or not.

My life has been on hold for the last 5 months because of this, holidays cancelled, birthdays ruined, off work. I genuinely would not wish this on my worst enemy.

If you hurt your leg, or your shoulder, or whatever it is ok because you can rest it, but when it's your anus you're screwed.

I am praying that the Botox does it's job and I heal ok, and for everyone else suffering from this horrible condition you have my deepest deepest sympathy.
