Warm up this cold space?
Help! I just bought this house and have no idea what color to paint. The panneled walls are currently a really awful BRIGHT white and I don’t like the contrast to the black beams and built-ins. I also wish the fireplace wasn’t painted but not a lot I can do about that right now. There is a lot of natural light coming in from the large bay window and the double doors on the other end of the room. We plan to use this as our main family room where we will spend most of our time. My original thought was to paint what is currently black, white, and the walls a creamy/warm white (BM Indian white). Now I’m worried that will make the walls look yellow. Should I paint the black beams the same color as the walls or white like the trim will be? What about the ceiling?
Our couches/seating will be a Caramel color leather so ideally a nice neutral feel for the paint colors. I plan to add color with a large area rug.
I’m really awful at this kind of thing and looking for ideas!
