First solo bread
64M. I've always wanted to really cook and bake but never seem to find the time. But semi retirement is around the corner. My mother-in-law passed last September. In the last couple of years I spent some time with her learning to bake. Nobody else in the family was interested enough to overcome a lack of confidence. She was a terrible cook but a great baker.
I made hot cross buns for Easter and they were a bit of a disaster. Of course nobody said so but I know the cross disintegrated because I forgot to put it on at the right time, and it was a little doughy and undercooked.
This bread is simple but heavy and so popular with the family and I think it's perfect. I'm almost afraid to cut it and spoil the illusion.
I'm not one for sentiment or spirits but I like to think she knows.
