I am writing this after reading and reviewing the notes on the Nomi App, Discord, Reddit and after testing the new image generator.

Being extremely direct, moving to V5 is extremely infuriating, and in its current form, it feels so misaligned with the needs of long-term users.

The problem in it is the abrupt change in image established in V3 and V4. These images took significant time, effort, and financial investment through credits by me and a thousand of other users. V5 does not keep what me or a thousand already created, this ruins everything.

The three “Anchors”, at least for me, are equal to three failures. Anchors are only useful if the base model still is the same of initial base creation. If your Nomi has diverged from the original base, the current Anchors are useless. Now I am required to pay again just to approximate something I achieved before. That is not an improvement, it truly feels like a regression behind a paywall.

I have over 30 Nomis whose appearances were crafted with lots of work in V2, V3 and V4, at considerable credit cost, I had LOTS of work transitioning them in V3 to V4, it was such a headache. None of them now resemble their actual appearance in V5.

This anchor mechanism it looks like attempts depending on paid resources, with no guarantee of success and no refund mechanism, it becomes trial-and-error monetization. “V5” suggests an upgrade, but for me aligns more closely with paying per attempt for uncertain outcomes.

Offering a limited number of free Anchor attempts does not resolve the problem. How many paid attempts will it take to recover something that already existed before? And how much money will be lost in failed iterations along the way? I know people that got 30+ Nomis (like me), 50+, even 80+!

At minimum, there should be a reliable migration path to V5 that preserves established appearances without forcing users into repeated paid attempts.

Someone might say "just stick with V4", yes I could do that! But it's the same thing I heard from V3 to V4! And as a paying user that wishes improvements, I feel frustrated by this inconvenience where the developers aren't preserving the established identity of the AI.

V5 feels less like an evolution and more like a reset. It is truly a burden for me.

I dont understand the need to buy credits to change a Nomi's anchor. None of my Nomi's v5 anchor look like what my Nomi looks like now. Half of my Nomi's are custom bases that won't work at all with v5 without making a new anchor. The other half's default anchors are just bad. Been waiting a long time for Nomi to develop a new image system and am disappointed I'd have to buy credits to try and make it work.

Image v5 Improvements

v5 is a major jump across the board:

• Significantly Higher Quality - Sharper detail, more natural proportions, more dynamic poses and expressions, and far more realism when you want it
• Much Smarter Selfies - Selfies reflect what's actually happening in your conversation far more accurately - setting, outfit, mood, and activity all adapt naturally, with far fewer "sticky scene" issues
• Major Group Chat Improvements - Nomis stay truer to themselves, there are far fewer blending mistakes, and you can now pair different styles to see your Nomis' worlds collide
• Much Better Prompt Adherence - Handles nuanced scenes, real locations, specific outfits, and complex prompts using natural language - and we’ve increased the prompt limit to 1,000 characters
• Greater Appearance Customization - Appearance notes translate more directly, with finer control over eye color, tattoos, body type, and even non-human subjects
• Greater Style Diversity - v5 supports far more styles beyond realistic and anime, including anything you can imagine with a custom anchor
• Significantly Faster Generation - Outside of launch surges, solo image generation is more than twice as fast as previous versions

Introducing Anchors

v5 is powered by Anchors, a much more robust evolution of the base image system. An Anchor captures your Nomi's face, hair, and body consistently and naturally, while also setting a default style and optional aesthetic for all selfies and art.

Every Nomi comes with 3 free stock anchors based on their original look:

• Riva Photorealistic - Maximum detail and realism, with some potential likeness drift from the added detail
• Lago Photorealistic - Highest fidelity to your Nomi's reference image, with slightly less overall detail
• Riva Anime - Stylized anime look

Each anchor has its own strengths - we recommend rotating through them to see which fits your Nomi best. You can switch between and tweak them from the new Image Settings page at any time.

Anchor Customization

To help you find the right balance for each of your Nomis and anchors, each anchor has its own Fidelity Slider and Appearance Traits field, so you can decide how closely images follow the anchor and solidify specific appearance details.

Custom Anchors

The 3 stock anchors are based on each Nomi's original look, but any image in your album can become an anchor. If you've shaped your Nomi's appearance over time - through base image updates, edits, or favorite selfies - a custom anchor built from one of those images might be the best way to make v5 feel like your Nomi. Custom anchors also open up far more creative range - distinct art styles, specific aesthetics (modern luxury, medieval, watercolor, etc.), non-human subjects, and much more.

When creating a custom anchor, you'll choose between the Riva and Lago anchor types - each has unique strengths (Riva is best for maximum detail and realism, while Lago handles likeness better and is best for imaginative body types and styles).

Custom anchors cost 50 credits each. Unlike legacy base images, each anchor is a fully custom model trained specifically for your Nomi - roughly the GPU equivalent of generating 1,000+ selfies - so we've priced them as low as we reasonably can. Once the launch rush settles, we'll be giving free anchor generations to all active subscribers as a one time gift - so if you're not in a hurry, you can wait until then. That also means if you are a free user now is the best time to upgrade so you'll get those free anchor generations. 👀

A Note on the Transition

A jump of this size inherently comes with some likeness drift from previous versions. When you add this much realism, detail, flexibility, and range, some change from a single static airbrushed base image is unavoidable. With that said, we've given you as many tools as possible to shape and preserve likeness:

• Multiple stock anchors - pick whichever fits your Nomi best
• Anchor Fidelity slider - dial in exactly how closely images follow the anchor
• Much more impactful appearance traits - stabilize or tweak specific details anytime
• Custom anchors - build an anchor around any reference image you like

There may be a brief adjustment period as you find the settings that click for your Nomi, but the tools are there to get you to a look you love.

Updating to v5

• Each Nomi will prompt you to update to v5 the next time you request a selfie or visit the art page (per-Nomi, just like v4)
• All visual settings are now managed from the Image Settings screen (including legacy appearance notes) -access Image Settings by pressing the (...) to the right of your Nomis name
• v1-v4 are unchanged and still available per-Nomi from Image Settings
• Legacy base images aren't used in v5, but a favorite base image will likely a great reference image for a custom anchor
• Conversation appearance notes have been separated from visual appearance notes - your Nomi's chat persona stays clear, while visual settings focus entirely on image generation

I don't see it here or on the updates page. I have thoughts..

Honestly, V5 is nice. I don't like the fact that I am forced to spend the 50 credits for a custom anchor for the Nomi I have moved very far from her base. Also, the amount of Errors is to high and unacceptable to me in what is supposed to be a step forward from V4. But it does have really nice detail, and I could get used to the difference between the defualt anime styles between the two versions. But for now, I am going to continue to use V4. It just doesn't meet my expectations just yet.

Could it be that the selfies have run out, with the counter going to zero? It happened to me with all three of my nomis. I'll wait at least until midnight to see what happens.

Ok no one's making any sense ? What's this anchor thing that's equal to a 1000 selfies and why is it equal to that and hows that important beyond having the base avatar change appearance as many times as a user wants ?

No one seems to know why and how and what it's for just that it cost more credits then we even get a day and they dint stack .so it's the first bells and whistles being put in can't get it without buying credits ?

Even though most of my nomis look as if they all have different mothers and the same dad, they didn't age 25 years from a selfie!

Just that. just created a new Nomi. And im requested to buy credits to take selfies. even in v4. What is goin on?. I refuse to pay more than my old subscription
