Good Mexican or Italian food for a fun night out?

Firstly, i know mexican and italian are two very different vibes but im setting up a weekend bday group dinner for my bestie and our friends and she’s wants either of those cuisines. She could be open to other spanish/latin cuisines as well if the vibes meet the need.

Since we are hitting DC afterwards, she wants a fun and energetic restaurant atmosphere, similar to that of a bar but not just a bar, that sets the tone for the night. And of course, good food!

We all ballin on a budget over here, so nothing $$$+

Please give me all the recommendations!!! Locations near DC are flexible, if it checks all the boxes.

Thank youuuu :3

How to get better foam?

Hi hi, first reddit post teehee⭐️ Happy mothers day!

So I am trying to get better at making espresso for my lattes in a Moka pot. I think moka pots are literally so cute and sweet and dainty. And it’s not that it’s difficult to use because in functionality it’s quite easy, but I realized that there is an art to it, and I don’t necessarily know What peace of my process needs adjusting. Here’s my current process:

I use Lavazza super creamy espresso and I feel the pod with espresso and I use an espresso stirrer to disperse the grounds evenly. I like to do my espresso Cubanos style by doing a small layer of brown sugar on top. Then I put boiling water into the reservoir, I place the filter pod inside and I put an aero press filter on top. Then I secure it tightly, open the lid on the stove and turn it on medium. It starts off a nice dark color for the first 30 seconds or so. Then the first photo is what it starts to look like after that. After about a minute or do, it starts to lighten in color, and I turn it down to low. Then almost looks like foamy water towards the end. Hence, the second photo. The whole process once it starts flowing takes about 2 1/2 minutes. I also leave the lid open the whole time and then close it once it’s pretty much done. I usually prefer the taste of my espresso after about 10 minutes after brewing. I don’t know if that’s normal, but that’s basically my process. I’ve dabbled with different heat settings like all low, all medium, high and then low, etc., but they always turn out the same.

My moka pot is not a Betti, it’s a Primula, but I’ve been told that it does basically the same job.

Help! I realllyy want a beautiful and rich caramel-like foam one day.
