A bit of a leading question, but I’d like to know if some of the issues I’m having are just my own or are just being tolerated.
Now, the consensus was that I should try NextUI, and I did, but my first impression hasn’t been great; and I want to know if I’m missing something. I haven’t played any games yet, but this is what has happened:
- 1. The install didn’t work the first few times (Brick wouldn’t power on with SD card). I formatted the SD the same way with Rufus (non-bootable, MBR, EXFAT, default cluster size), and only on the 3rd time did it work (Maybe this is user error- Please correct me if so, because I can’t find any guides nor info on this or installation in general)
* * *I did download the current version over OTA after doing this, so I believe the remaining issues are not caused by this. Using a 128gb Amazon basics SD card
I frequently hear that Knulli takes far too long to shut down, but with NextUI my LEDs are staying on 5+ seconds after the screen turns off.
NextUI is sometimes turning back on after shutdown. This worries me since it’s shutdown-related and I’ve heard about the limbo issue in the past making bricks out of some peoples’ Bricks. I’ve seen the rare comment stating the limbo issue is still a thing despite it being stated as fixed.
Device didn’t rumble on shutdown a couple times. Same concerns as my last point.
Is the hype around NextUI only for its simplicity and for those who don’t want to tinker, or is it also just performing better?
I apologize if I’m coming off as rude towards a free, community-driven software, but, aside from the first issue, I’m wondering about the stability the OS and the chances of it causing my device to fail. I actually like some of the features unique to the OS (pak store: love it), and I want to enjoy them, but I can’t afford to buy another Brick Hammer if mine combusts.
Thanks - TED Talk over.
