Full Chronology & Setting
Everyone knows how chronology works but I just like to share mental notes about my favourite subjects! so here we go!
Murder House is set in Los Angeles, California. we do see Boston for a short while though. It takes place primarily in August of 2011 to March of 2012. This season also goes way back to 1925 and flashes forward into 2015.
Asylum is set in framingham, massachusetts. this season goes back to june 1949, primarily it’s set in october 1964 to early 1965, and flashes forward into january 2012
Coven is set in new orleans, louisiana. the season goes far back to february 1692, is primarily set in late 2013, and goes to 2014.
Freak Show is set in jupiter, florida. we do also see hollywood, california, philadelphia, pennsylvania, chicago, illinois, framingham, massachusetts, and weimar, germany for a while. it goes back to late 1800s, is set in late 1952, and flashes forward to halloween 1960.
Hotel is set in los angeles, california. we see new york city in the show for the first time in hotel [1], (for a deeper analysis, go to the [1] under the list). it goes all the way back to 1925, is primarily set in october 11th 2015, to december 16th 2015, and flashes way forward to october 31st 2022.
Roanoke is set in dare county, north carolina. we also see los angeles, california. it goes back as far as the pre 1500s, but is primarily set in 2014, october of 2016, and november of 2017.
Cult is set in brookfield heights, michigan[2]. (for a deeper analysis, go to [2] under the list). it goes back to 1967[3] (for a deeper analysis, go to [3] under the list). it’s primarily set in november-december 2016 and march-april 2017 but concludes in october of 2018.
Apocalypse is set in new orleans, louisiana, and los angeles, california. it goes back to 1918, is primarily set in between of july 2015 and october 31st 2021, but goes forward to 2024.
1984 is set in los angeles, california. it goes far back to the summer of 1948, is primarily set in late july of 1984, jumps to october 1989, and ends in september of 2019.
Red Tide is set in provincetown, massachusetts. it goes back to mid october of 2016, is mainly set in january and february of 2021, and goes forward into may 2021.
death valley is not canon to this show
NYC is set in New York City, New York, and Fire Island, New York. it goes back to 1977, is set in summer 1981, and ends in 1990.
Delicate goes back to fucking 42 a.d. in eastern europe[4] (for a deeper analys, go to [4] under the list), eerily jumps to july 1555, is set in late 2023 and early 2024.

[1] new york city is seen in hotel for the first time which is rare because nyc was widely hidden in the ahs universe until it finally got its own season after everyone was curious about how a season in nyc could work.
[2] it seems that in the ahs universe, a town called brookfield heights exists in michigan with an estimated population of 10,000. ahs has never had any other fictional towns.
[3] 1967
[4] delicate and freak show are the only seasons to show countries other than the u.s.a.
