Standing Up When Riding

Needing some productive instruction. Coming from street bikes, standing up isn't something I'm use to unless going over RR tracks or similar. I'm trying to get use to standing up more on dirt but I'm running into 2 issues.

  1. In my "comfortable" standing position I seem to be too far forward and when coming off the throttle it'll send my body too far over the bars.

  2. When I get lower and put my butt farther back, it's simply just uncomfortable and for me it's unsustainable standing long term and I still seem to catapult some over the bars.

I know some of my issues is just building more muscle in areas that previously weren't used the same, but I feel like the majority of it is simply finding the middle ground. Any feedback is appreciated. I've combed through YouTube and haven't really found a tip that's got me right, so figured I would try here. TIA

Edge Of The World - Sedona

Random Q, but can anyone confirm if I'll have cell signal in that area? I have AT&T. I'm looking to go up and make a long weekend but I'll still have to work (bills don't stop). As long as I have Internet access then I'm good.

Healthy Grab N Go Snacks

Can somebody help me with some recommendations for grab n go snacks? I'm down 20lbs in 5 weeks eating a high protein, low calorie diet and staying in a calorie deficit. Last night I worked overnight (out of the norm) and grabbed a lunchable, chips, and peanut butter crackers at a gas station. I knew it wasn't good for me but seeing the combo of bad eating and limited sleep really shocked me! Yesterday I weighed myself before work and I was 245.2 and this morning just after eating that trash with limited sleep I was 248.6! I know it's not permanent but just wasn't expecting that much of a jump. Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

Gun Safe?

Moving to a more nomad lifestyle. Any recommendations on gun safes that are good quality but not crazy heavy? Probably needs to fit at least 6 long guns and maybe 10 pistols if not more.

Edit: Safe may be the wrong word to use. More so just need a way to conceal them all together, so they aren't just spread all over a room how I currently have it. I don't expect it to be super heavy of course since this isn't a permanent fixture.

I've been holding ONDO for a while now. I honestly don't pay much attention to my portfolio because everything is for the long term but I see the last week or so ONDO has started to pump. After being down 30+ percent I'm actually up now. I love how crypto can turn in an instant. But anyways, just curious if somebody can fill me in or poin me in the right direction to what's causing this? I'd like to read up on it if it's something worthwhile happening.

Like the header says, are these quads still a good buy in 2026 at a $2500 or less price?? I see a them posted for sale often. The amount of care that's been put in over the course of time varies, but overall what's your thought on these machines?

Went out this morning and rode, but never had the throttle at 100%. Everything went smooth. Went out this evening and had to ride on the street, so I had the throttle pinned and noticed it was bogging down probably at about 70% throttle in the even gears. What's most likely the issue?

I was already planning to get the bike serviced and looked over this week since I just got it, but seems like it may need more than just a general servicing. Bike just crossed 100hrs. I'm the 3rd owner. Second owner didn't do much to it besides change the oil and he said he changed a spark plug. He bought it at 80hrs from what I was told.

I bought my bike last weekend and been putting around the "trails" near my community, but today was the day to let her rip! Went out to a spot about 30 mins from my house and did a short 10 miles. I only ate shit once, because I wasn't keeping my head up! Noted! Lesson learned! Came up on a wash and instead of noticing the path down, I looked right at the fall off and grabbed a handful of brake. I need hip pads! I'm good tho. Only ever got into 3rd. I don't want to take too many chances being that I'm solo and although Im not scared of hitting the dirt, I don't think I'll hop up as fast landing on rock.

Otherwise, it was a successful day. Getting suspension done this week and a new rear because this one is tore up. Any recommendations on good tires for hard dirt and rocks?? Also, any recommendations for keeping track of heart bpm besides a smart watch? I'm riding to have fun but also as another way to get in better shape. But that's all I got. Just posting here because nobody else give af about what I do or got going on and the ones that do just bitch about me "taking too many unnecessary risk". Thanks for reading!

I've never really looked into Polaris besides just noticing the out of the box aesthetics. Any feedback on the sport ATV Polaris models from 06-09??

Currently I'm just looking, stumbled across an 08 Outlaw IRS which got me curious. How is it finding parts if needed? Any issues with these machines to look out for? Any input from current owners?

I previously had a 400ex Honda, so any comparison would be great if anyone has experience with both. My buddies and my wife will also be riding it every once in a while. Although not exactly the same, she has some seat time on both street and dirt bikes.

Random Q, but my wife's wanting to get a quad. From what I looked at, it seems like the newer Yamahas are the only sport quads that aren't carbureted. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong. I know she won't ride much so I'm not looking to spend a lot, but at the same time I don't want to be dealing with carb issues any time she goes to ride and I don't want to have to drain it every time it's sitting. I'm thinking it may be beneficial to just pay more for a FI Yamaha, but wanted to hear your thoughts and also know how long can you leave a quad sitting before the carbs get too clogged?

Probably not the traditional cleaning, but does anyone know a product to remove this from my dirtbike forks??

For those that started riding dirt bikes late, I'm talking about in their 30s or older.... How long did it take you to get "comfortable" on a bike?

Just a little background, I'm mid 30s and just got my second dirt bike. Picked up another KTM 350xcf. I've always been a sport bike guy, so riding in general I'm comfortable with, but adding the dirt bike mechanics I know will take some time. I don't feel like I ever truly learned how to ride when I got my first bike, not because I couldn't, but I just wasn't able to be consistent.

First thing first, I'm trying to get comfortable just with standing while riding (completely foreign coming from street bikes) and keeping a steady throttle. The problem isn't the standing, it's mostly the steady throttle while going over the different terrain. I've also been working on just balancing the bike while stationary. Anything else I should be working on? Any tips or pointers? What's been you "old guys" experience??

**Also, I'm in AZ with a lot of loose rock. I feel like riding in TX with thick dirt, I didn't worry as much and felt more planted. Any tips for riding in these conditions are appreciated as well. TIA

Just picked up a 2016 350xcf with 102hrs on the clock. I previously had a 2013 model and sold it a few years back and regretted it every since!

But I had a quick question I was hoping to get some feedback on. My 2013 had a rekluse clutch system and I seem to remember the shifter being slightly more "stiff", but this bike is just a basic clutch setup and it's super soft to the point you can barely feel it go into neutral. I've banged through the gears a few times now and no issues shifting, but just want to know is this normal for these bikes?
