Do people actually fall for this? I’m surprised it is even legal for places like Costco

u/Desperate_Web5015 — 2 days ago

I don’t understand what’s going on in this city…

I’ve noticed a number of people driving significantly under the speed limit, and then acting surprised when they have to stop at every red light. The problem is I’m behind you, and stopping at every red light with you.

The problems in this city are due to people, not knowing how to drive, that is my opinion. And at this point, I’m blaming the driving schools. Why are there so many novice drivers who are terrified to go 60? Like why aren’t you back in the parking lot with them if they can’t function in regular traffic?

Just venting as I’m sitting in rush-hour, stuck on King Street. I give every other fucking day with a bus that just cut me off.

The suicidal empathy in r/Winnipeg is off the charts

Minimum wage worker stabbed for daring to step near a bus shelter on their way to work? It's their fault of course, the poor unhoused meth enjoyer has the right to experience their meth high however they wish! How dare you ask for safety in your own city? Don't you know that late stage capitalism is your fault? Colonialism is your fault. And so is substance abuse and poor mental health. You did it. And you will pay to fix it with your taxes and you will have to step in human shit in a bus shelter, and you will get stabbed once or twice and you will like it!

Mike Vogiatzakis for Mayor?

UPDATE: Mike published an article with Winnipeg free press, and in that article he claimed that he fired me because I was an awful worker, I have proof on my government record of employment form that I quit as well as screenshots of my resignation to the manager stating why I was quitting and the incidents that happened. How do you forget that I quit because of your abuse but on public record in the paper, you state that you fired me because I was an awful worker. He can’t get his story straight.

I never thought I’d publicly speak about this, but after seeing Mike Vogiatzakis from Voyage Funeral Home running for mayor, I feel like I can’t stay quiet anymore.

I worked for him for a few months and experienced repeated sexual harassment, intimidation, and physical aggression while employed there. This included inappropriate comments about my sex life, unwanted touching, being pinned against walls, and an incident during a funeral service where I physically had to defend myself from him trying by to get on top of me and choke me which he called the next day and made a joke “don’t make me choke you again”. Not to mention threats with his gang affiliation also being mentioned when I spoke back to him after him trying to put his hands around my neck in the waiting room of a funeral service in a church taking place in the next room. After everything, I quit because I no longer felt safe working there and my income was not a priority over my safety. Also mind you all of this was caught on his video cameras which unfortunately I had no access to.

I reported my experiences at the time to police and the Funeral Board, but nothing came of it due to lack of evidence available to me. I scared, financially dependent on the job, and afraid to speak publicly. I also have had previous experiences lien this through life so when these incidents happened I would feel frozen and not know how to react. How does one react to there “hello” to you being a slap in the face? He always mentioned how he loved that he was able to do this because I wouldn’t say anything.

I also personally witnessed treatment toward grieving families that I found deeply disturbing and unprofessional, including a situation where the wrong body was brought in for a family viewing and the family was falsely told their loved one had already been cremated while staff searched for the body. Not to mention him having cameras in the embalming room which is a privacy act and goes against the Funeral Board regulations. Something they failed to take into account with my report.

I am deeply upset with the Funeral Board of Manitoba as I knew a police report would be hard to get through because of lack of evidence, but the funeral Board of Manitoba failed not only me but the families we get to honour and the loved ones that have passed. We are supposed to have the upmost respect for the decedents and their, families, and they failed to recognize any of the information I was putting out that went against the regulations and respect of the deceased. As a funeral professional of 6 years I am disappointed and disgusted by Mike and the Failure of the Funeral Board.

I know posting this publicly opens me up to criticism, but seeing someone I experienced as abusive and intimidating attempt to move into public office genuinely scares me. People deserve to make informed decisions about who they support.

FYI I can 100% say he does have gang affiliation, I will not say which one for safety reasons but I am sure it isn’t that hard to guess. This is why he would use this threat as a way to keep me quiet for how he treated me. Also is it a good idea to put someone in power with strong gang affiliation that also has access to their own crematorium? 🤔 (I have no issues with this gang my issue is he uses them as a crutch to threaten and excuse his behaviour) not to mention countless charges on his criminal record of fraud, which can be easily looked up or just by his name.

👋 Our family is moving to Winnipeg from southeastern Ontario this summer. I got sucked into reading some weird threads lately (mostly crime and crappy weather related) and need some help getting back on track excited/motivated as enter into the worst phase of relocation (prepping and selling our current house). We have 2 girls 7 and 10.

Help us get excited!! What makes Winnipeg special to you? Where should we plan to get family memberships (i.e., the Zoo)? What are good activities to help the kids make friends and get involved in the community? What are some annual Winnipeg events/traditions we should look forward too?

We are thinking of moving somewhere in the southern half of the city, right now we are looking at Charleswood through Sage Creek - 😂 half the city I know. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Happy Mother's Day - Step perspective

Honestly, not intended as thunder stealing. I am a man who went from the boyfriend, to part time step dad as mom worked nights, then to full time mom AND dad because mom lost her self and became a monster. 25 years old, 7 and 9 were the girls at the time. I had no idea what I was doing as a male role model, let alone provide that special kind of love only a mother can.

I have the utmost respect for any mother that tries, is invested and devoted to their children. Not only from failing miserably at trying to fill the motherly role, but the heartbreak of watching one be indifferent towards her beautiful miracles.

We do the best we know how as we go right? It's a life long commitment and it's brutally difficult and immensely rewarding every day. To think I never really wanted kids lol. I would have loved a mom's help or even an auntie. Ladies....as mothers and wive's you are amazing people. A good man is also amazing, but you truly help us to reach our potential and be our best. Way I see it, maybe because I have a daughter, every day is woman's day. Again, than you for all you do. Seriously.....to all the moms out there, you are f@#+;#$ amazing. I notice and I appreciate you.

Happy Mother's Day to you all.

Winnipeg :-(

The Current Mayor and City council are playing with every mechanism they have to increase revenue flow in their direction, while at the same time cutting services they are there to provide for the tax paying citizens. I have seen a severe decrease in street and sidewalk repair and maintenance with holes 7 inches deep appearing. Some streets are almost impassable, Back lanes are a nightmare. Yet Winnipeggers will most likely vote the same people back in.
