I have the most chill puppy??? lol

my little guy is sooooo chill, he of course has bursts of energy but compared to my german shepard cattle cross that k raised from when she was 10 weeks old. this is a breeze!!

mister boone is already crate trained and potty trained by 12 weeks old! I feel so lucky!

*disclaimer — I am so down to have an energetic boy. and if his temper or personality changes i’m super happy with it either way!

How did you manage to leash train

Stanley is a little over a year, we think. Rescued 6 months ago from a reputable weim specific shelter. They probably embellished his age a little but that isn't of much concern. His history was not shared with us outside of him not having any consistency, they think..

He didn't spend too long in shelters but any amount at a young age is a missed opportunity at best.

Anyway, we spent the cold Chicago winter walking as much as we could. He wasn't too keen on the cold. Additionally, not many people to distract him on our route. Now that it's nice he seems to have doubled his need to exercise and is much less willing to walk somewhat decently on his leash.

We use a pull deterrent harness and 6' leash to walk. He's not my first weim but my first was around before kids so weim #1 got long, long off leash walks with regular swimming so energy and pulling was never an issue for us.

Now with kids we play and walk enough but he still is wound up when it's time to get going leading to erratic pulling and unwillingness to chill. Plus I'm a bit older so I have to remind myself to be patient.

I've done the stop every few steps when he pulls to wait and proceed when the leash loosens.. we'll walk around the block and it'll take an hour.... I don't have the time to manage everything and continue this as there's been very little of any progress. The opportunity to walk off leash is gone since I can't take him to any off leash parks as often like I did with my first weim.

Aside from continuing this seemingly unsuccessful task of stopping every few steps.... Any tips or strategies I might try that could help?

He's gotten better at my company to stop eating goose poop so he's not a totally lost cause I suppose.... Getting frustrated that I can't give him the brisk walk he needs because he's literally hurting my wife and kids by pulling too hard and making walks no fun for me.

Also here's a picture of the loveable dingus

Find the Weim. Hint: orange collar.

We went to the beach and I can’t find Weimaraner. She blends in so well.

New Weimaraner Pittie Mom

I rescued a Weimaraner Pitbull puppy 8 months ago. Her name is Nova and she is 1 1/2 years old. She is the most loving girl… but she is also crazy!!! I have only ever had Lab mixes in the past, so she is a real treat! And she is the fastest dog I have ever seen when she gets running. I welcome any advice on what I might expect in the future!

This is a blue weim

To show from an earlier post from another user. King Tut here. Definitely blue.

He catches a blue tone when in natural light. And his grey is a darker grey. And he’s the same color as my couch without natural light.

Grooming/bathing question!

Our sweet little Thelma attends doggy daycare usually 5x/week while working. By the end of the week, she stinks lol I fear drying out her skin/coat, especially with spring time allergies if I bathe her too often. She gets a bath now every 10-14 days and so far, no drying of the skin. What tricks or tips do you all have to keep your weim smelling and feeling fresh and clean with a silky coat? Also, is there a specific brand of salmon oil you all would recommend?

Side note: She completed her off leash training last week! Still have progress to make but her being a typical weim, she’s just stubborn lol She is the best girl that we could ask for and are very thankful and proud of her! She’s just a big dork sometimes. She loves her doggy daycare. We have found that taking her daily with long walks in the evening is the best way to make sure her energy is spent. Half the time, she doesn’t even want to go on a walk because she’s too exhausted. She’s the best girl, living her best life!

Brewery Saturday!

This is a local brewery in Houston called Baileson. Their beer is absolutely incredible and they love dogs (as seen in their logo https://www.bailesonbrewing.com

Whitney loves it because they have dog treats at the bar and everyone gives her pets and ear scratches. I’ve never had a dog get as much attention as this girl gets. 😍
