Start button stopped working

Start button on my Vita 1000 stopped responding after a couple of months of laying around. I opened it up and funny enough after applying some contact cleaner to the board it started working again, but only for a couple of hours. Every other button on that board including select is working great, and i already ordered a new board (plus ribbon cable), but what seems to be the problem here? Board looking fine, no corrosion or anything, plus cleaner does help, even if for a short time. Maybe it's salvageable, what do you think?

P.S. While looking for a spare parts i saw a comment about how every marketplace board is sold without an isolation for the speakers. I made sure to choose the one with isolation included, but is it a big deal?

No idea what to do with this error

Always in the same mission it crashes mid-loading. First version Vita and it's not homebrewed.

Anyone know how it can be solved?

Boulderdash game for PS Vita

Hi all,

I'm a product of 1980's gaming and remember playing a game on the Commodore-64 called Boulderdash.

I'm open to more modern versions of it and searched to see if it was available in any form on the PS Vita.

No such luck, it seems.

I was hoping a version of it could be installed/played natively (as opposed to running a version via an emulator) and found in my searches: Boulderdash 30th Anniversary Edition; and the more recent 40th Anniversary Edition, neither of which are available for the Vita.

Question is, is there a version of Boulderdash available natively for the PS Vita that I'm missing, or could the mobile anniversary edition(s) be ported to the Vita?

...Or is it just wishful thinking and I may aswell forget the whole thing?

Many thanks in advance.

Switch Speakers Mod on Vita Oled

Was overall a basic mod. Soldering skills are required but overall they're a massive step up from the stock speakers

Trusted eBay Sellers

Looking to buy an OLED Vita and unfortunately the market for it my area is terrible. People are selling their grimey, scratched up, burned in Vitas for upwards of $250 CAD. After negotiating with a few of them I decided that eBay will be less of a headache. However, I would like some input if any of you have experience with these sellers. Specifically the Japanese sellers as their listings are a lot more affordable.

I was about to pull the trigger on tokyotune's Vita, until I realized there are several other Japanese sellers also with great eBay reviews, that also cost just a little more which could maybe mean better condition.

If any of you have a seller you'd recommend, please let me know. I don't have much experience using eBay, so I'm not too sure on what to look out for when buying

Thanks guys

Psvita with hori grip case

Sorry if this was posted before but I can't find a case that can carry the vita slim with the hori grips on. The most appealing case to me that was recommended in a previous thread was the RGS Amiibo traveler case but it's so old that can't find it anywhere (except eBay but it's over CAD $50 ....). Weird that I couldn't find it in the Japanese yahoo auctions.... Any recommendations? Thanks

PS Vita 2000 Water Damaged - No Display but has Audio, Crashes on Sleep Mode (Kernel Panic?)

Hi everyone, I recently picked up a used PS Vita 2000 for a project. It has some history of water damage, and the previous owner already cut the EMI shielding over the SoC/RAM area (presumably to clean or inspect it). I’ve cleaned the board with 99% IPA, but I'm facing these specific issues:

No Display/Backlight: The screen is completely black. I’ve tried the flashlight test (shining a light on the screen), but there’s no visible image.

Audio/Touch Works: I can hear the menu music and the "click" sounds when I scroll or touch the screen, so the OS is definitely booting.

Charging Issue: When charging while the device is ON, the LED stays orange for a bit, then turns green, then back to orange if I re-plug it.

Sleep Mode Crash: This is the weirdest part. When I press the Power button to put it into sleep mode, the green LED flashes for about 20 seconds, turns solid green for 5 seconds, and then the whole system shuts down completely.

What I've tried:

Cleaned the motherboard and connectors with IPA.

Inspected the SoC area; there was some orange oxidation (rust) near the edges of the shielding cuts, but I’ve scrubbed most of it off.

The system boots into the OS (I can hear the music), but it won't stay in sleep mode.

Is this a known hardware failure? Could a shorted LCD be causing the kernel panic/crash during the sleep transition, or is the PMIC/SoC likely toasted due to the previous water damage?

Would appreciate any advice before I decide to buy a replacement motherboard or screen. Thanks!

I bought a Not Working PsVita Slim, first thing I noticed is that the clip for the connector on pic 1 broke off so it definitely has been opened already. But it was plugged in, when I opened it. Second the battery is not swollen, is there another way to check if it is dead?

And last some soldering points doesn’t look good to me ( Underneath the B and 1 ) What should I do now?

SteamOS ARM

I'm no professional when it comes to these things but with the recent news of Steam working on ARM architecture support is it possible that we could start seeing more ports for lightweight steam games on the ps vita in the future ?

Corrupted minecraft world?

Hey guys, today i think i messed up my save, i tried to rename it and when it didn't rename i restarted the game. I continued playing like usual but then a few hours later when i went into the game again my world didn't have an icon and i couldn't enter it, though the name had been changed to what i had introduced previously. Is there a way to fix this? I had just beaten the ender dragon and just needed one more trophy for the plat :(

Need help testing my app on the PS Vita!

Hey all!

I made the ImageShare web app for sending images and videos to a modern device, which already has extensive support for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, including the ability to detect game titles from screenshots and save them to the image's metadata for search indexing.

https://preview.redd.it/9z8pz5x4xmvg1.png?width=1465&format=png&auto=webp&s=44a1099b127ee4cc6e8aba4fa3739bb51e6c5942

I would like to add proper PlayStation Vita support to ImageShare, since the Vita's web browser also supports uploading files, including (hopefully) the same game title detection. However, I don't currently own one, so I need others to provide sample screenshots, photos, and camera recordings. Most of the ones I'm finding on Imgur and other sources have all the metadata stripped out.

I made a thread on the ImageShare repository with instructions for providing sample files (with the metadata preserved) and sharing them. The samples will be saved in the repository for anyone to use in the future for testing, and I'll make another post here if/when I roll out full Vita support.

Wanting to upgrade my vita's speakers, any recommendations?

I just added the usb-c mod to my vita and I'm looking to mod it some more. Was thinking I'd start by replacing the speakers as they don't sound the greatest. Problem is I don't know what speakers to use. Does anyone know what the best speakers that fit are?

Also any other mod ideas? Debating a shell swap or screen upgrade. I am scared to upgrade the battery since the software doesn't play nice with better batteries from what I hear.

Is there any carrying case or pouch that has a belt loop?

I just need something that holds my vita around my belt preferably as I'm worried that having it in my pocket is going to cause stick drift.

I'm from sweden so please no recommendations from places with super high shipping costs.

How bad is this?

I’ve tried to fix that screw post with superglue and that greenish bi component glue but it doesn’t seem to stay in place, what should I do? Get a new front panel? Or just leave it like that?
