Best upgrade from a disappointing Roborock S6?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice to replace my aging Roborock S6. I bought it back in 2020, and to be honest, it’s been a pretty big disappointment. I’m hoping that 6 years later, the tech has finally evolved enough to handle my specific setup.

The Context:

  • Space: 80 sqm apartment.
  • Flooring: Parquet everywhere except for the bathroom, which has white tiles. As you can imagine, every single cat hair or speck of dust is visible there.
  • The Cat Factor: I have a cat that sheds quite a bit. We often leave the bay windows open for him to go on the terrace, which brings in a lot of extra dust and debris. We also have kitty litter to deal with daily.
  • The Obstacles: My door thresholds/plinths are poorly made and quite high.

Why the S6 failed us:

  1. Navigation issues: It constantly gets stuck under the sofa or tangled in power strips. It seems to have zero "self-awareness."
  2. Thresholds: It struggles to climb the slightly raised plinths. It often gets wedged on them.
  3. Fragility: The transparent water tank actually cracked because it kept hitting the door thresholds while trying to climb them. We eventually just removed it.
  4. Suction: Even running every day, the cleaning quality feels subpar, especially for cat hair on the white tiles.

What I’m looking for: A robot that can truly be autonomous for daily maintenance, so I only have to do a manual deep clean once a week. I need something with top-tier obstacle avoidance (no more getting stuck in cables) and a serious climbing ability for those thresholds.

I’ve seen the new Roborock Saros 20 mentioned recently—it seems to have a slim design and "AdaptiLift" for high thresholds. Is this the right move for my situation, or should I look at something like the Dreame X60 Max or Eufy S1 Pro?

Budget isn't the primary concern if it actually works, but I’m happy to wait for a good deal.

Thanks for your help!

Different mop pads on Roborock Saros 20 & Saros 20 Sonic

Just noticed something while comparing replacement parts for these two: most accessories (roller brush, side brush, filter, dust bag) are interchangeable, but the mop pads definitely aren’t. The regular Saros 20 uses longer-fiber round pads that seem better for water absorption and general mopping, while the Sonic version has a denser D-shaped pad designed more for high-frequency scrubbing and pressure transfer, so probably better for tougher dried stains. Which one do you prefer?
