Ukraine Aid Operations: Ukraine's Drone Elite - The CVN Unmanned Systems Squad

On Land and Sky - The CVN Unmanned Systems Squad

Donate here: https://ukraineaidops.org/blogs/fundraising-campaigns/on-land-and-sky-the-cvn-unmanned-systems-squad

The Combat Veteran News (CVN) Team and Ukraine Aid Operations are teaming up again — and this time we're zeroing in on something Paul has been covering more and more on the CVN channel: the units doing some of the most innovative and dangerous drone work on the entire front. Over the last year, Ukraine has built entirely new formations around unmanned warfare —  Unmanned Systems Battalions, like "Sapsan", "Raid" or "Aeron". These guys are writing the playbook for robotic ground combat as well as mid- and long-range strike in real time, often funding critical gear out of their own pockets while delivering some of the most consequential blows deep behind Russian lines. They are, quite literally, the future of this war — and they're doing it with the support from all over the world.

Our campaign focuses primarily on the Unmanned Systems Battalions that currently dominate the battlefield so much. In particular, we aim to support these units:
- 1st Unmanned Systems Center
- 9th Unmanned Systems Brigade
- 413th Unmanned Systems Regiment
- 421th Unmanned Systems Battalion
- 435th Unmanned Systems Division
- Other drone units

We want to make the biggest possible impact on the battlefield. We aim to achieve this by applying these key equipment piece:
- Ground drones (UGVs) that resupply forward positions and evacuate wounded across fields no truck or pickup can survive
- Heavy-lift transport drones for the "last mile" — moving ammo, supplies, and "Vampire" drone batteries to the line without a single soldier on the road
- Mid-range drone components for the units reaching deep into occupied territory
- Support and energy equipment supporting our drone units

Thank you for your support!

Many thanks! I’ve finally received the charging stations for Brigade 160. It’s been two weeks since I paid the bill – and it’s probably cost me a fortune in stress – but at last, the five charging stations are on their way! Thank you for your support!

Cuba acquired 300+ Russian and Iranian military drones. How Russia's war against Ukraine seeded the threat?

According to classified U.S. intelligence shared with Axios, Cuba has acquired more than 300 military drones from Russia and Iran. U.S. officials say Cuban authorities have also discussed possible military use of these systems in the context of tensions with the United States.

The report says Cuban officials recently sought additional drones and military equipment from Russia. Intelligence intercepts cited by U.S. officials also suggest Cuban security services are studying how Iran responds to Western pressure and sanctions.

U.S. officials estimate that around 5,000 Cuban citizens have fought for Russia in the war against Ukraine. Some reportedly shared battlefield experience with Cuban military leadership, including lessons about the effectiveness of drone warfare.

Ukrainian intelligence has reported a significantly higher figure. During a briefing to the U.S. Congress, Ukrainian officials said nearly 20,000 Cubans had served in Russia’s army since the start of the recruitment campaign. Ukrainian forces have also captured Cuban fighters on the battlefield. According to Ukrainian officials, many were used as expendable frontline infantry with limited protection or training.

"They're part of the Putin meat grinder. They're learning about Iranian tactics. It's something we have to plan for," the U.S. official said.

The case illustrates how battlefield experience gained during Russia’s war against Ukraine is being shared between states hostile to the West, including through drone warfare practices, military cooperation, and exchanges on sanctions evasion tactics.

A year ago today, the 38th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment used a STING interceptor for the first time to down a ruzzian Shahed. "The command didn't believe us at first. We were amazed ourselves."

Wild Hornets STINGs have since downed over 7,200 Shaheds and Gerbera drones—saving 7,500 civilians from being killed or injured in ruzzian attacks, according to our projections.

Sincere thanks to the 38th Regiment for showing the way and nearly six months of training for this success—and to all Ukrainian defenders for saving lives.

Special thanks also to Wild Hornets engineers, charitable funds, donors, officials and volunteers who supported this innovation.
