We are 47 and 45 years old, single income, stay at home spouse, with two kids aged 10 and 8, nearly 18 years post-residency. I wanted to share that investing and maintaining a high savings rate early on has truly paid off for us. The power of compounding has been remarkable; in fact, the compound growth in the first half of this year exceeded my active income for the same period. Interestingly, increasing my savings rate won’t significantly impact my retirement amount. We are approaching financial independence and early retirement (FIRE) very soon, but I’m not quite ready to quit just yet!
