Am yet to find a soul that says poverty is not born by laziness; everyone thus far says if you want to be poor, be lazy!

But is that the whole truth and nothing but the truth?

Why then do you find folks who worked so hard all their life, wasting away in their old age in senior homes, only to be killed by covid, forgotten before then?

If they were rich, would they not be dying in their mansions at home? Or it is their kids making the choices otherwise they are/were filthy rich?

Your thoughts.

Okay esteemed redditers, few days ago I posed a question on buying vs building one's house. The respnses were truely enlightening. And to be honest, they made me begin to wonder whether it may just be a whole lot better simply renting for the rest of one's life.

The disadvantage of renting however is pretty glaring; for one, you won't be in position to leave something tangible behind for your little ones & grand little ones when that time comes. So to me, debating over building vs buying continues; because leaving merely liquidity & other non-permanent assets for your little ones doesn't make much sense; that is if you happen to be lucky enough to accumulate some wealth.

For the dirt-poor, I guess it doesn't really matter. One can just rent on end till death!

So my question is: Between renting a house/an apartment & buying/building one for yourself & family, which one is a whole lot better?

If Communism failed, & Socialism failed, & Capitalism is failing or has failed, then what really works or would for humanity?
