Had this weird growth removed today. Ent doc said he’s never seen anything like it but doesn’t seem worried it’s anything. Sent to lab. Anyone had something like this?
Finally found the damn crypts
Guys I just wanted to share that I finally found the location where my stones hide!!!
I have very small tonsils and I’ve spent months looking for the damn stones that I could feel but not see. Needless to say that I was full of them it was a pain to release them but now I know where to look for
I wonder if they contribute so much for bad breath if they are this deep inside (no contact with the outside from what I can understand)
Finally got these two from my right tonsils after days of trying…
Still feels like there might be more to be honest… so messed up
So apparently I have tonsil stones?
I've read about tonsil stones before, so I wasn't totally clueless. I just never suspected that I had any. I don't really have a bad breath issue (I've asked multiple people), I don't feel anything weird when swallowing, etc. About a week ago I started having sinus issues and had a lot of post nasal drip, I guess. The next day swallowing hurt and my throat felt swollen. I looked and to my surprise, my tonsils that were previously invisible were super irritated looking, AND had several tonsil stones visible? What? My gag reflex is awful, water pik didn't work, I managed to poke one out with a q tip but choked and swallowed it. It was almost the size of the end of the q tip. How did this happen? My tonsils are normal and then aren't? The last few days the swelling and irritation of my tonsils went away and I noticed that the stones were slowly being hidden again. Now you can't see them at all. I'm wondering if they've been there a long time but just aren't visible?? Anyone have any advice? I double checked about my breath with people and nothing. Also, sorry the picture isn't the best.
Should I get it checked? (No insurance 😬)
I’ve been having real bad tonsil stones, and I’ve got this big hole in my tonsil where they keep forming- is this something that‘s abnormal? Can it be closed? Should I see a dentist or ENT? what sucks is that I am not currently insured…
Partial tonsillectomy?
Has anybody had this done and if so, what was your recovery like?
lingual tonsil stones - please help!
Hi all,
I’m new to dealing with tonsil stones, I think I’ve had them before but feel like I am getting them more often. Started this past October, my son started pre school and brought home hand foot and mouth - which I of course caught. That’s when I first noticed I had a stone. Fast forward to March and I had another one. I was sick that week so figured that was the cause..but I’m still dealing with it a month later. Sore throat, a little dry as well and the feeling of something being in my throat when I swallow on one side. I was googling and found out you can get lingual tonsil stones - symptoms sounds like that was what I had. Sure enough, I found them. Was able to get some out but they’re pretty hard to see so I’m sure there is still some back there 🤢. I’ve always considered myself to have good oral care, brush twice daily, floss, mouthwash etc..so the fact that I have these are just grossing me out & also annoying. The feeling in my throat is the worst part for me. I’m going to starting trying other things like taking K2, chewing sugar free gum as well as my routine of mouthwash, salt water or baking soda mouth rinse/gargling. But I came on here to see if there was anything that worked for anyone else, dealing with this for a month straight has been a struggle for me, I do have a dr’s apt tomorrow and plan to get her advice as well..but I’m desperate. Help 😭
Have managed to get many tonsil stones out with water flosser. Still a disgusting smell on my tonsil when I rub my finger on it so there must be more. My mouth is cut to shreds from my water flosser. Any advice? Did salt water gargles eventually do the trick for people? Thanks!
First haul!
Hello! I have been following this sub for a while and haven’t had any contributions! I finally got this haul today all from the same crypt(if that’s what it’s called idk)
Can hard water be a cause?
I randomly started getting tonsil stones semi-regularly several years ago. I'm finally doing a deep dive and I didn't realize it's also caused by "hardened minerals like calcium". I thought it was mainly from bacteria in food particles. Just before I started getting them, I moved to a new town that has very hard water. Like, the pipes will occasionally clog from calcium, and my kettle is coated in a thick white layer. It's a known issue here, many people have water softeners.
Could this be the cause?!? The timing makes so much sense.
Bad breath for years… had no idea… about 12-15 of these came out
I’ve been debating stopping smoking, and after I inhaled ash and coughed this up, I decided it was high time.
I realized it was a tonsil stone and went to shine a light and saw more. I took a sanitized metal chopstick and gently pushed out and coughed up all the ones I could see.
I wound up getting like 12-15 of these little bastards, and gee whillikers, I immediately noticed a massive improvement to my breath. I’m so grateful I discovered this.
I bled a tiny bit while removing. Now I’m pretty sure I should gurgle warm salt water each day for a bit, or non-alcoholic mouthwash to prevent them returning.
At what point should I consider having the tonsils completely removed? I’m sure I probably missed 1 or more of them probably hidden in places I can’t see.
Thank you for your time
Deep stone
I’m no stranger to tonsil stones and today i saw one and i’ve been trying to get it out, i started poking around with my waterpik and i think i may have pushed the stone deeper since i cant see it anymore? It didnt come out but when i was gargling salt water i could feel it but i can no longer see it, has this happened to anyone else?
Euphoria! no really...
Had been having a "sumthin might b there" feeling on and off for a few days. This big guy woke me up outta my sleep. I literally felt like I was on shrooms or sumthin. I had such a euphoric feeling I literally said to my self "wow, I feel so good"...and I really did. Didn't think this was hiding inside me. If only they cud all come out like this. The feeling it gave me would leave one to think it smells like unicorn poop, but once I inhaled the smell I snapped back into reality. My Gaawwdd!
P.s. sorry for the dirty, last on earth penny I used. All I cud find...
I can feel it, what's even worse i can smell it, but i can't find it
i mean seriously!!! people keep telling me to brush my teeth because the smell is so foul. i've felt like theres something in there for months, lately it's really annoying. i tried to push around where i feel it, even used some tools, i was pretty rough ngl, poked in some new holes and got bruises. i know i shouldnt but i'm pretty desperate. ugh!
I was gonna use a water flosser to take em out but my mom said use a q tip w alcohol to burn em off or drink hot stuff?? I nvr heard of the q tip is it safe 😭
reddit.comRemedy for tonsil stones
I just wanted to share what worked for me, I’m not a doctor or anything but I know how hard it is to have these things and so far this has helped me in my personal experience so I hope it can help you too if you’re struggling!
For some context, I’ve had tonsil stones for years on years and they’ve always been really hard to deal with as I could taste them all the time in my mouth
The first thing I did that shrunk them a lot was cut out dairy from my diet, switching to vegan cheeses and milks and ice creams worked best for me! I still eat hidden dairy though (such as milk used in ingredients to make other foodstuff)
After, I started taking vitamin D every day and also gargling with a salt water rinse ever day.
From my experience this doesn’t get rid of stones 100% but now i don’t have bad tastes in my mouth because of them and they have become much easier to extract in one go
Take this with a grain of salt because everyone’s body is different, but I Hope this can help someone
4 Year Old Tonsil Stones
Over the last 7-8 months my 4 year old has coughed up tonsil stones a few times. First time I just thought he’d picked food out his mouth but the last couple of times I clocked what it was. I’d noticed the last week or so his breath becoming really bad, even though I am very strict with brushing teeth twice a day, and then he coughed some big ones up this morning and now his breath is not noticeable.
We’ve never had any issues with tonsillitis or strep etc and I don’t think he has issues with sleep nor does he snore but I don’t want him to have to deal with tonsil stones and bad breath :(
I’m based in the UK and I just don’t think the doctors would even think about referring to ENT / remove his tonsils. Anyone in the UK have any advice?
