Goldfinch WRECKED Me

I had no idea when starting this series, how emotionally wrecked I'd be once I finished it. It easily is one of the best series I have come across so far and I feel gutted even thinking about starting something else now.. which is probably going to push me into a very welcomed re-read. I was pulled in so many directions throughout this series, I think I both cried and laughed more than I have in any other series I've read so far. That says a lot (in my opinion) about how well this series is written and how much work went into each book.

I've read that a lot of readers struggled getting through the last few books or couldn't finish the series. There were a few times where I almost wanted to put it down and walk away >!(specifically Malina's earlier chapters that came up) !<but I'm so glad I pushed through it because I thought the last book and ending was done beautifully.

I also don't think there is any other MMC that compares to Slade and how he'd destroy everything and everyone on Auren's behalf. I also LOVED how other relationships were introduced and explored throughout the series >!(I couldn't get enough of Rissa and Osrik and was rooting for them so hard)!<.

I am seeing too that Ryatt is getting his own book. I can't find anything online about a timeline of when that will be released (I haven't done a whole lot of research on it yet since I just finished Goldfinch), but I hope it comes out soon.. I'm already feral for it😂

For those of you that are just starting Gild or in the middle of the series and getting discouraged, keep going until you finish it. It is so worth it 🔥❤️

Plated Prisoner Series is my favorite romantasy

Just finished Gold (book 5). The Plated Prisoner series is officially my favorite romantasy series. Sorry Sarah J Mass fans. The action is better. The danger more compelling. The romance more consent-based. And I think Raven Kennedy writes about themes of abuse and trauma better than SJM.

Themes of TPP series

Ugh i just finished Goldfinch last week and i can't stop thinking about it!

I loved it so much but understand a lot of people stop reading after Glow; which makes me sad because i love Gold a lot.

So i was thinking about the overall themes and point of the series and honestly, i feel like its about Auren being free.

It's not just about being free from Midas. It's being free from any control and men who would abuse her. The romance is so prominent of course but i feel like it's not actually the main purpose of the story.

When i realised this, i enjoyed the book so, so much more.

So now it's one of my favourite series. Fun fact: my fav book series and manga now both start with sex (Gild and Berserk hahah)

Based on the feedback of others I didn't expect to enjoy book one as much as I did. I absolutely loved it. I've heard this is where it really gets good though!

Ideas for a plated prisoner party

My girlfriends and I are starting gild and I'm hosting. I want to get some decorating ideas and like themed snacks ready but I haven't read the book yet. Without spoiling is there any ideas out there? Just like random play on words for snacks etc. Obviously gold items? Lol

Does the series get darker?

My friend has BEGGED me to read Gild & I love her & wanna be her book bestie…. But I’m also postpartum w a baby girl and book 1 is making me sick to my stomach. Call me soft because truly I am lol.

Anyway, I’ve heard book 1 is potentially prequel-ish anyway, so maybe I could spark notes it? But are the other books just as dark?? For my current mental health, I need to avoid descriptions of rape and sexual violence and derogation against women. Too heavy for me as I hormonally recover whilst holding my baby girl 😭

TLDR:

Does the Plated Prisoner series get less sexually violent//derogatory towards women as it goes on?

Gleam (3rd book) Chapter 9

i am trying to understand Auren and why she always allow Midas to outnumber her… but sometimes i can’t fathom why she can’t just fight back

It is so nice to finally meet an MMC who will actually burn the world down for the FMC. He does NOT play about Auren. Slade is on an absolute revenge rampage right now and I am 😱

*spoilers below*

I was listening to the audiobook at work and when Ryatt and everyone get to Annwyn and see the spots of rot and gold while searching for Auren and Slade, Drag Path by 21 pilots started playing on the radio?? Idk it was so insane and I started sobbing. The ending was good but idk what to do with my life now 😭😭
