Installed Tado X on Return Pipe

I had an installer install compatible TRV to my radiators.

Lots of loud humming and machine gun sounds at night.

Realised that the trvs are installed to the cold pipe. The bottom is the warm one ( at least it gets warmer before the other when turning on my heating)

So what should I do? Make him come back and ask him to install it at the bottom? Or use a bilingual body instead?

Hi there, I've just found this community as I'm looking to get my first smart thermostat.....from Tado (obviously)

I'm an absolute beginner so please bear with me. My current heating system is 10 years old. I just have a wheel dial thermostat in my living room and the rest of the controls are on my combi boiler.

I guess that means I need a wired Tado? Just swap the wheel dial for the Tado and that's it (aside from the bridge).

My boiler isn't opentherm so I guess I get the basic experience only. Any guidance would be great. I'm in England if that makes a difference. Thank you!!

Woke up to three radiator thermostats offline. Rebooted everything and no change. Wifi is rock solid, good coverage, no other devices having issues. There's nothing left to troubleshoot. What is even the point of smart heating systems if you can't depend on being able to access them remotely?

Tado X heating

Just had new Tado x thermostats installed and have a couple of questions.

  1. The current template of the lounge is 19.5c but it is showing as heat to 18c. Is the heating actually turned on when this displays?

  2. I have a dog so often leave the back door open when I pop out but I have noticed the heating quite often turns on randomly even though I have set it to turn off when I am away. Is there a better way I could set this up?

USB C rechargeable batteries?

Anyone tried the USB C rechargeables in their V3+ TRVs?

Thinking about trying paleblue AA batteries but would be great to know if they fit as so many rechargable brands seem to have a larger diameter than standard batteries

Manually controlling heating while all rooms turned off

It's that time of year where I want to turn off my heating winter schedule, but still have the option of manually turning the heating on for a while when it gets cold.

I'm using Tado v3+ and the button in the app to 'turn off all rooms'. That's fine, but when I turn the heating on for, say, 60 minutes, it runs for the time and then reverts back to having the schedule enabled. So I have to remember to fire up the app later in the day and turn off all rooms again.

I already control Tado from Home assistant (using Tado Hijack), so I could just turn off all rooms at a set time every day, but that seems a bit clunky.

Or I suppose I could delete my tado schedules, but then I'll have to put them all back in October

Anyone do anything different?

I've had a working Tado system for years at home with a Smart Thermostat directly wired to the boiler, and 10 TRVs signalling it when they need heat.

I've just bought a Starter Kit with a Wireless Thermostat and a Wireless Receiver, and I'm able to add it to the system, intending for it to control a new underfloor heating setup.

I expected to be able to set each room to a different zone controller, i.e. so the kitchen with the underfloor heating would be set to this new zone, and everything else to the old. But as soon as I add the Wireless Receiver to the system, the old Smart Thermostat disappears from the list of zone controllers. There's a dialogue box that lets me choose, but there's only the Wireless Thermostat listed.

To restore my heating I have to remove both the Wireless Thermostat and the old Smart Thermostat, and re-add the latter.

How is it meant to work, and have I bought the wrong product here?

Any advice appreciated.

Hi folks, I am new to Tado, so please bear with me.

I had an issue with my ATAG OneZone thermostat where it would just suddenly go offline. ATAG offered me a free replacement, or I could change to a Tado V3+. I did this becuase the thermostat is wireless and so, I could place it in a more convenient location.

It was installed only 2 days ago by a professional fitter. The problem I am having is, if I turn on the Tado heat from the Tado app, it can take a random amount of time for the wireless receiver hard wired to the boiler to react. Worse still, if I turn the heat off, it can take anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes before it deactivates. The strange thing is, if I do this on the actual Tado Smart Thermostat, it only takes a few seconds to activate/deactivate. I have no idea what is causing this. I have pinged the internet bridge on a number of occasions and it's absolutely fine. Always within a few ms.

Is this a common issue with Tado or is there something wrong with mine? Much appreciated. Thank you!

Struggling to understand where I’m going wrong with wiring up the Tado Receiver with the combi boiler I’ve got.

Boiler: Alpha Evoke 28

The first image is what the terminal strip looked like before I started the Tado installation.

I’ve doubled up in the live and neural blocks and replaced the bridge with the black and grey cables from the Tado cable. I’ve also followed the instructions for writing in the receiver too.

Everything in the app says it’s connected and connection is good but the boiler doesn’t get the heat signal coming from the receiver.

Can anyone help shed some light before I throw in the towel and get a professional to look at it please?

What’s wrong here? I’ve just recently installed it and noticed that my hot water/boiler remains on even if i turn it off from Tado X app or the receiver.
I have a system boiler with a cylinder tank for hot water.

Has anyone faced similar issues? Is my wiring okay?

Thanks

Hot water not coming on when Tado requests it. I can hear the hot water controller click but nothing happens on the boiler.

Boiler man said it’s working but the tanks hot. I’ve emptied the hot water tank and switched the immersion (solar) off so I’m sure it’s cold.

Can anyone see anything obviously wrong with the wiring inputs from/to the controller.

I’ll give Tado a shout next week if not.

Cheers ta

My hot water control has disappeared from the app. Search results indicate a recent update may have borked the configuration and defaulted to combi. Several search results indicate the same issue has happened to others and there might be something about re-adding the controller, but every support community link I click on has been removed by tado? So I battled through a poorly-configured ai chatbot (I hate being given a small set of options which excludes your actual problem so you have to navigate through a maze of incorrect Q&A just to write what you actually need). I've submitted the request through support but haven't heard back yet... so I have no hot water and no way to fix it. I really don't understand the "support" model here.

Edit to add: I eventually got a repsonse from Tado who confirmed they re-added HW via a config I can't access. That means if it happens again, I need to wait until Tado help is online to get my own hot water.
