Does Alan Moore's 'Saga of the Swamp Thing' contain any graphic nudity?
My 14 year old was asking if he could read this book but I know Alan Moore and Swamp Thing can be generally mature. Thoughts?
Rick Veitch Vol 1
About to start Volume 1. I remember people mentioning it being odd Hellblazer issue 4 and 5 are in this, but I'm only getting around to the book now. Is there a reason those two issues are here or can I jump them?
Love Moore, but it's been really cool to watch this character grow without him.
I was playing Injustice 2, and I've been loving playing as Swampthing, and I think I'd like to know the character more! If you don't mind, what are the must-knows how Swampthing?
Other Comics Besides The Alan Moore Saga
I've read the Moore Saga a dozen times and not sure which others to check out or where to start.
Saw we were posting our tattoos
This was my first tattoo I got in my early 20s.
Do we know if the upcoming DC Finest book will include the recoloring done for the Dark Genesis release?
I wanna say I saw something said about how the Dark Genesis recoloring will be what will be used for all reprints of this Len Wein era moving forward (the DC Finest looks to be coming out in December and Dark Genesis in November so timing wise it works out), but I'm having trouble confirming this information
Last November I went to a con and got a Swamp Thing commission from Phil Hester who drew swampy in the 90s. A few days ago, I got it tattooed including his and the tattoo artist sigs on my arm. The tattoo artist added the color and the flora. I've included the pick of the commission.
I was curious what all of y'alls thoughts are regarding the New 52 era of the character. Personally, I'm not a fan of the New 52 in general. In fact I'm very critical of it. But regarding the Swamp Thing book from this time, I remember it being all right. It suffered from some flaws of this overall era regarding writing but I didn't hate it or anything
Time Travelling Swamp Thing Jesus
Hello everyone!
I recently picked up issue 1 of the Swamp Thing 1989, in which he meets Jesus. I understand that this is the conclusion of a larger arc in which Swamp Thing gets unstuck from time. What issue does that specific arc start? I've heard some sources say it's issue 80, and others say it starts at issue 82.
I'm very new to Swamp Thing. I've read his origin in the 1971 House of Secrets (though I think that's a different guy) and the recent Black Label Green Hell. I'll eventually get around to reading more (especially, Moore), but right now I just wanted tog et the full time travelling arc.
Thanks!
Edit: Oh, I also heard one source said that Swamp Thing Annual #5 was part of this arc, as well. Not sure if that's accurate.
We Need a Doug Wheeler Omnibus
This year is turning into the year of "buying several Swamp Thing omnibus collections" for me. Sorry wallet! 😅
Anyway, I noticed that the Rick Veitch is having the 3rd/final trade collection of his run coming out in August. I plan on getting all 3 trades of his run. Recently got the Nancy Collins omnibus and I'm getting the Mark Millar omnibus later this month. But one other writers who had a fairly length run on the character alongside these writers is Doug Wheeler. Strangely enough, I don't see any trade/omnibus collection of his work.
So...this is me basically saying we deserve an omnibus of his run as well
I have to admit I am confused by what has happened in recent years. AI am going to layout a brief history of Swamp Thing as I believe, and I know I am wrong but I am hoping I get some non-snarky help!
1- Swamp Thing starts as Alec Holland, he is transformed into a muck monster in a lab experiment.
2- years later, he discovers he is actually Earth Elemental who only thought he was Alec Holland. Alec Holland is indeed deader than dead.
3- New 52: Alec Holland is back from the dead, but has to become Swamp Thing to save earth from The Rot. This keeps his organs intact as a hybrid or something? Like, he is no longer all-plant life? Not sure what happened to previous elemental that thought he was Alec
4- Levi became Swamp Thing: He is still human, but can transform back and forth into Swamp Thing for some reason? Not sure what happened to Alec, but he is in the green or something.
Please correct me where I am wrong, and if anybody could expand on 3 and 4 so I can un-confuse myself! Thanks in advance to all replies!
