I am on my 3rd playthrough of Subnautica because it's one of the best games ever made. I fired up Below Zero for the first time and I really liked returning to the ocean and exploring and crafting. Lovely.
Except I finally got to the glacial section near the robotics lab and I got lost for maybe 3 days of play (I'm a shift worker so I can only play about 2 hours a day) and then found the robotics lab by accident because the landscape looks way too samey. Then I fell through the bottom of the ice map into the ocean and died because I couldn't get out again and I kinda cbf anymore.
The story seems fairly linear but for all the PDAs I'm finding, there seems to be a LOT of filler and very little task orientation in-game. On top of that, the artefact waypoints seem to show up arbitrarily and then scanning them seems to bear little relevance to what I should be doing. I honestly was pretty stoked on the game but I've started googling what to do or how to get somewhere which I very rarely did in the first game. There's a lot to love but yeah I am pretty bored atm I almost just want to build a bigger base and forget the story.
I just read the following on the game wiki under trivia for the Ghost Leviathan:
>The adult Ghost Leviathans found in the void are roughly 1.15x as large as the adults that are found in the crater, given that the entry of Ghost Leviathan Juveniles states that their growth "shows no sign of stopping" it is possible that this species grows continuously throughout their lifespan.
That would mean the Ghosts in the void are rougly 123 meters long. (107 x 1.15) That would make them the largest aggressive fauna in the game.
So why is it consistently stated that the Sea Dragon Leviathan is the biggest aggressive fauna in the game if the Ghosts in the void are supposedly 11 meters longer?
What are the five things you find most helpful at the start of the game? The ones you wish you had or really need to make your gameplay go more smoothly. Just sharing your thoughts—everyone's experience can be so different.
I want to start playing again and wanted to see what everyone uses at the start.
I'm on my second playthrough of Subnautica. It, understandably, took me much less time to complete the main story, so instead of building the rocket, I decided to mess around and build a big base in the Lost River, using only resources I can drill there. I used the fabricator in my Cyclops for 1 computer chip, but other than that, I built it from scratch without taking any resources from the Cyclops or the previous base. I didn't really have a "theme" in mind, I just wanted to keep building and see how it turns out. It was actually super fun. Along the way, I also challenged myself with creating an aquarium containing every fish that you can catch or hatch. Definitely recommend it, it's cool that the game lets you do all this.
I always thought that above part was just a wall... I've played this game for years how the hell have I not known this
you are on a cliff in the safe shallows. a little downaways, a straight path through the blood kelp trench and then the lost river. you have a mushroom forest and kelp forest literal meters from your base, and the red grass biome. every single common resource is within reach. the water is deep enough for things like your cyclops, but shallow enough on the cliff for a safe base. equal distance between the islands, you only need to visit the aurora once, the bulb zone is the only spot that is nearly useful that is not in your immediate area. the only downside is the reaper by the red grass, but otherwise perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
sooo i kinda wanted to ask where i was and what the fuck happened, but i recently made a post that i was scared to go anywhere and i listened to the most and started exploring, i went like 600 meters deep looking for some stuff and wanting to find the sea emperor leviathan, i slowly arrived at some kind of forest? there were like small trees at the bottom that had blue glowing ends and while i was exploring i decided to turn my back bc i was hearing stuff and holy fuck i saw the biggest ghost leviathan in my life being like 10 meters away from me heading straight at my ass, i swear i NEVER jumped this far away from my pc and i literally fell from my chair XD
As has been well established by now, as of April 7th, Krafton is no longer listed as Subnautica 2's publisher on Steam, the Epic Games Store, or the XBox Store. On the official Discord, the devs are understandably unwilling to comment on this situation, but I did find the screenshots above. Up until March 20th, I could find references from devs regarding Krafton as "their" publisher, but this changed by April 9, with one dev saying they are "the developers and publishers" and that, hence, no info from anyone else can be considered official regarding their games. I saw some speculation on said Discord that Krafton losing the lawsuit meant the court stripping them of their publishing rights, but I can't find any information in the court's published opinion directly corroborating that. The case was about unlawful terminations, not publishing rights. The judge stressing that UWE has the right to determine the EA launch date also does not appear to strip Krafton of their publisher rights, as that was already the case before the lawsuit, yet UWE still referred to Krafton as their publisher (determining a date is not the same as holding publishing rights afaik). Yet, the information from the Steam Store and the above screenshot indicate that UWE do consider themselves their own publisher. At the same time, they still list Subnautica 2 under "Krafton" on their website, but who knows what that means. What do you think? I suspect we might get more revelations and legal fight results sooner or later...
it might be kinda booty but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
