But can they do it on a wet evening in Bristol....

You bet they can. High Desert Queen four musicians at the top of their game. Also big shout out to the support Abrams who absolutely smashed it. 🤘🔥

heaviest matters of metal

sup dudes, as of recently i’ve been diving real deep into doom metal more and more but nothing is better than the other. Every band has that deep low tuning, but none of them have that true depth of sound of a soul of heaviness. I keep going back to electric wizards dopethrone album, you can say whatever you want about it but two songs will always stand out to me because of the sheer amount of crushing power it brings. Those songs would be Weird tales, and I,Witchfinder.
To start Weird tales, what makes this song so heavy isn’t that break to the slower original riff, but it’s the end after the feedback, the pure sound of despair and destruction of hatred as i hear it, the repetitive riff and drumming makes the end of the song so damn heavy. Now I,Witchfinder, the song is obviously heavy but it’s something you haven’t heard before, but a part that specifically catches my ear is the break that repeats itself with Jus repeating “I, the Witchfinder” makes it feel so turning, like Anakin Skywalker slowly turning to the dark side and resembling the painting of lucifer. Both of these songs stand out so much, no matter how far i go into the doom metal genre, these are one of a kind, but i want to hear what you guys think about these songs or the genre.

The ULTIMATE stoner rock album is...

I want to know what you think the ultimate stoner rock album is and why everyone should get on board with it.

Mine is Tummuli Shroomaroom from Acrimony; just so, so, so, heavy and lush.

Doomsmoker - A MÖRK BORG adventure of the sacred smoke covenant

(...The prophecy is being fulfilled. Visions seen through the smoke and revelations were granted unto the highest of high weed-priests...)

Doomsmoker is MÖRK BORG adventure of the sacred smoke covenant delivering sacred herb bales to the Dying Lands from Nazareth to Jerusalem during an impending apocalypse.

For centuries, WEEDIAN priests have cultivated sacred plants and delivered herb bales across the Dying Lands. From the days of THE FIRST CULTIVATOR until now, they have travelled in caravans sharing both their botanical product and music as a part of their SMOKE COVENANT.

The Dying Lands are soon to be snuffed out, according to some scripture. Only a few more Psalms will be read until all is gone.

Crossing the Sand Sea has always been dangerous.  The pilgrimage is more deadly now as Scythians, heretic insects, and demons roam the desert.

The weed-priests have enlisted the help of believers and mercenaries to help them cross the desert for what will be the last caravan of the SMOKE COVENANT to bring SMOKE and RIFFS to the land.

This adventure is written for MÖRK BORG .  It is written to be simple to play and enjoy, hopefully for seasoned RPG players and stoners alike.

This adventure features:

  • 60+ full color pages, many original illustrations
  • Point-crawl through 7+ Locations across a dangerous SandSea
  • 1 new Item type
  • 10 new Scrolls (new scroll type: Smoke Scrolls)
  • 3 new Classes
  • 1 Dungeon
  • 6 new Enemies
  • 2 new Bosses
  • Random tables for musical practice, meditations (visions), and atmosphere/weather
  • Lore at the intersection of MÖRK BORG, SLEEP's album Dopesmoker and the culture of doom metal
  • Tangible sense of DOOM and DREAD  as the world is ending

Original soundtrack coming soon from burgersmoke records.  Follow here or on various streaming platforms for updates:

Mystery hip-hop song in The Midnight Ghost Train's Cypress Ave.

Sooooo... this is as niche, and unimportant as it gets, but it has been nagging me for 5 years or so; and I guess this community would find it at least mildly amusing, and just mayyybe find some kind of possible answer.

I'm not even a fan of The Midnight Ghost Train, yet here I am. For context: TMGT is a southern rock/hard rock/stoner rock band. Heavy raspy voice, and just archetypical "trucker" kind of stoner (not an insult, as I like other bands with that same vibe, i.e. Shooting Guns). Have a go at their music, and you'll see what a I mean, I promise this is coming of a place of genuine curiosity.

So what's my surprise when listening to their Cypress Ave. record in 2020, that I hear just the most groovy song I've ever laid my ears upon. An inmediate 'Oh fuck, that is so fucking good... What the fuck I'm listening to.' I was flabbergasted, it was on the middle of the freaking album. "The Boogie Down" by The Midnight Ghost Train.

Had to double-check it wasn't a distribution issue. And it's not the case, everywhere, the same song file plays, and drives me further into confusion. Also, it does not seem to be a cover of any other song, blues standard, or jazz standard.

No "feat.", no additional credits, no change in their writing credits... nothing on Bandcamp, Reddit, comments, Facebook. In no other album of theirs, there is a single instance of even something remotely happening like it. My investigation led to nothing.

So as a first time caller, long time listener, I seek your insights. Does anyone had any kind of similar experience hearing this record? Do you know something we don't? The thing is I want to hear more of the people who made one of the most listened songs in my all-time playlist.

After all this years, I've entered resignation, and this may be my last effort to solve this personal mystery. Thank you all r/stonerrock.

Record label for small rock band Kitchen Witch

Hi All, I'm in a little Australian band called Kitchen WItch. We've done a couple of album releases on little indie record labels, mainly to help cover the cost of vinyl manufacture and distribution. We're currently sitting on a third album and looking around for labels that might be interested.

Any cool stoner/psych/rock indie labels anyone can recommend that might suit us?

Thanks!

Questions for the guitarists.

How do yall get your dirt/fuzz?

I find pedals themselves dont sound as good as just cranking the gain on the amp and then throwing on a bit of boost or in my case i use the MXR ten band mixing board. For example listen to how much better my tone sounds in the first part of this clip (gain on amp cranked and boost with MXR) versus when I use my pedals for the fuzz but the amp is clean.

Maybe my fuzz pedal is just not good for stoner as well and more so for classic rock shit.

Acid King.

I love Acid King and I’d really like to play their stuff on guitar, but what tuning does the singer/guitarist Lori S. use ? When I listen to their albums, it sounds like C Standard to me, but when I watch live videos, she uses very few power chords, so maybe it’s Drop D or Drop C maybe B? If anyone has a good ear and wouldn’t mind helping me out, I’d really appreciate it in advance !

HASH BONG self-titled debut album out now!

Hash Bong is a drum/bass drum from Colorado.

The new album was recorded, mixed, and mastered at The Blasting Room in Fort Collins.

Available everywhere, but we highly recommend listening on Bandcamp as they don’t use loudness normalization. This album is loud as hell and we hope you enjoy it that way!
