Dangerous experience

I installed these a few months ago. Today I noticed a nasty smell in my child’s rooms like urine. After exploring and seeing the device unavailable in Ha I discovered this.

Very concerning given batteries were also scorched. Will be removing them all from the house

Zigbee Direct Binding switch recommendation

Hi, I've spent sometime researching best way to approach zigbee direct binding for my always powered Hue lights (i.e. switches should keep working in "detached mode" even when HA / SMLIGHT coordinator / MQTT are down). I want to be able to control both single and also groups of lights (e.g. corridor or whole home) via a single switch.

I'm restricted to the EU market so cannot use Inovelli Blues (Project Europa doesn't seem to be ready yet) and similar.

Another requirement I have is no batteries (so ideally everything powered from mains).

These seem to be the most promising options:

Both the Sonoff and the Shelly implementations still seem to have some issues/quirks (e.g. https://community.shelly.cloud/topic/14177-zigbee-client-binding-in-200-beta1/) but Sonoff seems more mature and has a larger user base right now.

Currently I'm leaning towards the ZBMINIR2 + their new Fusion enclosure (https://sonoff.tech/en-eu/products/sonoff-wall-switch-enclosure-e1gs-e1gsl) since I like the round design. Going with the ZBMINIR2 also allows me to use any other switches in the future.

Do you have any experience with such a setup? Any recommendations?

There are also these options:

but I found very little information online and they're also quite expensive (why?).

sonoff MINI DUO test: why the switch works that way?

Hi there!

I'm a very beginner, who is sperimenting into HA. I recently found the Sonoff Mini Duo, and test how it could work to make IoT my old house.

here is the original diagram, and one version cleaned up for 1 switch only.

The things I don't understand is why the manual switch works that way. I can turn it on, and nothing happens, but then when I press off again, it send the signal to the light.
In the same fashion, to turn the light off, I need to press the switch twice.
Basically the fisical switch is like a "push button".

Not sure if it's cause I bought the wrong switch, or that is the correct operation. if that the case, I should get "push button" for everything instead?

Not sure if affect, but the lightbulb is a smart light, cause I didn't have any other spare around, but in theory this should work with normal light bulbs (right....?)

Hi All,

I am trying to install SONOFF MINI DUO 2-Gang Zigbee Smart Switch MINI-ZB2GS (wiring instruction can be found at the end of the page link) in my living room, but I am not sure how to do it. My electrical installation is as follows:

I have a double light switch in my living room, with two buttons—each controlling a separate lamp. When I opened the switch box, I saw three wires: two white ones, each connected to a lamp, and one black wire, which I assume is the live (L).

I didn't proceed with the installation of the smart relay, because what I had looked very different than the installation videos I had watched. Also, I found out I didn't have enough space to fit the device in, either.

Then I also looked at the electrical wiring in my first lamp body. There I have more cables - I a blue one (N possibly) and a brown one (L possibly) as well as two white ones. Here are some pictures for reference:

Since I don't understand much about electricity, my question is - Can I install the device into the lamp console? Will it work as expected (be able to control both lamps still), and will it be safe to do so?
