Did Vietnam feel “easy” or “overwhelming” for your first solo trip?

I’ve been seeing really mixed experiences about solo traveling in Vietnam, and I’m trying to figure out where it actually lands for most people. On one hand, it seems incredibly accessible budget-friendly, amazing street food everywhere, and a well-trodden route for travelers. On the other hand, I keep hearing about the intensity of the traffic, the fast pace of cities like Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, and small challenges like language barriers or navigating transport for the first time.

It feels like one of those places that can be either super smooth or slightly chaotic depending on how prepared you are. Some people describe it as an easy, fun introduction to solo travel, while others say it takes a bit of adjustment before you start enjoying it fully.

S0, how it felt for you overall was it something that came naturally, or did it take time to settle into the rhythm of traveling there solo?

Ho Chi Minh Solo Travel

Hi, I’m from PH and I’m traveling alone this coming May 14-19. This is my first time going out of country so I’m kinda anxious, I was meant to go with my sister to celebrate her birthday but due to medical reasons she won’t be able to. I’m M23, if anyone traveling alone on that week as well, can we join itineraries and help each other out?

Currently staying at a hostel in District 1 and I’ll be free in an hour to hangout. We can walk around with a can of beer—that won’t get us in trouble right?

We can chat about anything and everything. Just be respectful and nice ❤️

Hoping to meet travelers to get some insights. See ya!

Vietnam Travel

Hi everyone! Semi-beginner solo traveler here. I already have my reservations made for my upcoming Vietnam trip and wanted to hear from people who’ve traveled there before.

How did you prepare for avoiding food poisoning or stomach issues? I absolutely love Vietnamese cuisine here in the States and how fresh everything is, but I’m a little hesitant about how my stomach will handle raw veggies/herbs that may be washed with local water.
My usual rule of thumb while traveling has been to mostly eat cooked food, but I know that cuts out a huge part of Vietnamese food culture. I’ve been to Mexico, Guatemala, India, and Japan so far without issues, though I usually avoid raw veggies and fruits unless I can peel them myself.

Would love any personal experiences, tips, or things that worked well for you in Vietnam!

Solo male traveler in Saigon May 26 -29

I've been to Vietnam many times solo. I love riding motos during the day sightseeing. Then enjoy my evenings going out for drinks and music after dinner. If anyone out there would like join for drinks and music, reach out. I'm American.

Solo Travel Chill Birthday Activity in HCM

Hi! Solo traveler here!

My birthday’s tomorrow and I’m looking for something/somewhere chill to do/go around HCM. Any recommendations?

I’m not into partying/clubbing, though.

Just want something chill, no pressure activity after eating Pho 😂

Possible trip to Vietnam

I am wanting to plan a trip to Vietnam (HCMC specifically) to go see a friend for an extended stay. Flight will cost me 1.4-1.6k USD in total.

Just need opinions and advice on how far out should I plan this trip, roughly how much money to save for the trip outside of the flight tickets as I will be there for 1-2 months.

Also have never travel abroad before so if anyone else is wanting to or already have planned when you are going in the KCMO area lmk, maybe could meet up at the airport depending when I figure out exactly when to do this trip.

Any and all tips, advice, and opinions are appreciated.
