What actually makes a sock “comfortable” for you?

I’m starting to notice small differences more. Thickness, material, how tight they are around the ankle. Some feel great all day, others get annoying after a few hours. What’s the one thing that makes or breaks it for you?

Highest Quality Sock Debate

Hey folks, I'm curious what everyone's experience is with quality everyday socks. I've been looking into merino and bamboo blends lately and keep coming across brands like Bombas, Dan Tough, London Sock Company, Pairs Socks, Ridge Merino, Smart Wool, and Rototo. For those of you who've tried some of these, what's actually the most comfortable option you've found? Keen to hear what you all swear by.

What compression socks actually work for 12 hour shifts?

My legs are killing me by hour 8 and the cheap ones I bought roll down or cut off circulation. Need something that stays up and actually helps with swelling

Any durable socks that don't get holes easily?

I regularly swap out my socks every few months because I tend to fidget with my toes a lot, so they end up getting small holes that eventually get bigger. I just throw them out and get new ones, but I want to fix that and find socks that will actually last, even with my habits. The compression socks that I got from dr woof 6 months ago are still holding up fine, so maybe I just haven't been choosing durable ones for my regular socks.

Drop your recommendations for socks that have lasted you a long time but still comfy for everyday wear and not too expensive. Also, if you've got tips on how to take care of socks so they last longer, feel free to share!

Does a three-pound pack of men's socks differ from a good pair?

I've always chosen the hue I haven't yet acquired and declared it finished. I never really thought about it. I have not been one to care about socks, I felt people do not really pay attention to such things. However, a few individuals have been discussing it lately; I didn't even request this discussion. They genuinely discussed men's socks as if it were a significant topic, and I'm beginning to question whether I'm missing something.

Of all people, my father recently brought up merino wool. The same father of mine has been wearing the same pattern of socks for years now. He learned about it from a coworker who had been on the Alibaba site and read about the practical definition of quality fiber in the Q&A area.

My dad seemed strangely knowledgeable about it when he got home. I'm not sure how I feel about him now that he's converted to Merino wool.

Could someone please clarify whether a better sock is truly worth it on a daily basis or if this is something you only notice if you already care about it? God forbid my dad keeps current while I continue to fall behind; I need to see things from another person's point of view.

Didn’t realize how much good socks matter until recently.

Used to treat socks as just…socks. Whatever was clean, I’d wear. Then I got a couple pairs that actually felt nice and now I can’t go back. The difference is way bigger than I expected. Anyone else have a “why didn’t I do this sooner” moment with socks?

How do I choose the right size of crew socks for men?

A couple of days ago we were attempting to understand how we could select the appropriate size of crew socks in men and began to research what actually makes them fit.

Initially we thought that sock sizing would be highly dynamic but after consulting a bit further we have found that proper sizing is essential in comfort, support and durability of the sock.

What we discovered is that the easiest method to select the correct size would be to pair the sock size to your shoe size using the brands size chart. Crew socks ought to be snug around the foot and calf without being too loose or tight. A good fit will not bunch up in shoes and will make the process of walking or sports more comfortable.

On the searches we made in the various listings on Alibaba, we have also observed that a lot of men crew socks are done with stretchable fabrics such as cotton blends, elastane and polyester and they therefore fit different foot sizes more readily.

As we have learnt, the most important thing is to be elastic, to pay attention to the quality of fabrics and to compare the size charts.

Experimenting, but the correct crew sock size is largely a matter of matching the shoe size and having a comfortable and secure fit.
