Wish we had real baseball

I wish we had real baseball. I used to live in Jacksonville and one of my favorite things to do was go to suns/jumbo shrimp games. I think the bananas are cool and I think their rise to fame is truly amazing. How ever I wish we had a real baseball team to share the stadium with em. And tickets are literally impossible to get. It’s not like they play in Savannah that frequently as it is. I miss cheap tickets and beer. Not to mention the name “sand gnats” was perfect. There logo and colors were really cool too.

Btw if anyone has some cool sand gnats merch there willing to sell or trade dm me.

Sycamore Tree in Forsyth Park?

I was visiting Savannah and was exploring Forsyth Park when I noticed this line of trees. All the other trees were oaks, but there was this one sycamore tree (pictured above). There were other sycamore trees in the park, of course, but I was just curious if there was a reason there was one in this line of purposefully places oaks?

(Been loving my visit btw—lots of great food around!)

Dating in Savannah?

Hi! I'm a 29 year old straight woman moving to Savannah next month. I'm super single and am hoping that dating will be at least more entertaining than where I'm moving from in the suburbs. Curious what your experience is.

Do you typically meet people in the wild with ease? Or are apps more typical? Since it's the south, do you feel like straight men are gentlemen or have we lost the plot?

Also taking recommendations for good bars or places where there's a late 20s-30s crowd of people who actually talk to each other!

Savannah mall

Trying to remember a specific store from the Savannah mall in the early 2000s. It was kind of like a World Market but it also had hermit crabs in it

Door knockers

My bf and I live in a seemingly quiet neighborhood Georgetown. A lot of older folks, ppl with kids. Since we moved in in Jan we have had constant door knockers when I'm home alone. 3 sales people and two women from a church. The women really freaked me out, I'm sure they were nice but after they left my porch they seemed to have left the neighborhood and my friend who lives further down the street and was also home said they never visited her. I should have asked but does anyone know what church they may be affiliated with? Just freaked me out. I said I wasn't religious and they asked why and if I had any trauma as they started to walk closer towards me. Didn't really feel threatened just thought it was super odd.

Why are there so many personal injury attorneys in Savannah?

I love Savannah and was passing through today. I noticed an absurd number and variety of billboards for personal injury attorneys. Any reason as to why?

Reminder Pooler City Council Meeting Tonight @6:00 pm

Even if you don't speak, it makes a HUGE difference when the room is packed!

In spite of what some people claim, property rights are NOT absolute. No "RIGHT" is. The government is allowed to restrict ANY Right based on a compelling interest.

Also, to address the NIMBYISM argument: People are allowed to want to live in an area that isn't over developed.

NIMBYISM assumes that the same people against development in their town are somehow clamoring for development elsewhere.

Someone saying no apartments in my backyard aren't asking for apartments to be built elsewhere.

Social justice issues, such as protecting the environment, may clash with other social justice issues such as more housing. That is just the way it is.

We can't all fight for the same issues.

And speaking of which, the housing crisis isn't "just" about the lack of available units.

It is more nuanced and complex than that. Two of the biggest factors are affordability and the "right" kind of housing.

People STILL WANT TO OWN A HOUSE. The issue is that there aren't enough "starter" or "retirement" homes on the market.

PEOPLE CAN'T afford to buy homes and renting is also difficult for a lot of people.

Building dense housing such as apartments or rental duplexes does not solve affordability and desired type of housing.

Hope to see lots of you tonight!

Hearth Repair?

Hey gang! I just bought a house in Savannah, and the old owner had something covering up this hearth before we bought it, but on final walk through it looked like this. Anybody know a smaller contractor around here that would fix this and lay some tile here that isn't booked out for two months?

Tennis Buddies

I’ve been wanting to get back into playing, but I don’t know anyone here or any groups to join. I’m more of a casual player, so I’m not sure what my rating would be. Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated!

How's serving in Savannah right now?

Is it still slow? Are drunk people fighting at night yet? I'm looking at getting a weekend shift somewhere touristy where I can meet college aged people. I don't mind the methed out cooks. LEMME KNOW

Good dog trainer for 3 year old

Hey all,

Looking for a really good dog trainer in the Savannah area—preferably someone who has real experience with reactive dogs / dog aggression.

We have a 3-year-old pitbull/Boston terrier mix. She’s honestly great with people—super friendly—but:

- She jumps a lot

- She’s not good with other dogs

- We’re starting to worry she could run out of the house and go after another dog

We want to get ahead of this before it turns into a real problem.

Not really looking for basic obedience—more someone who can help with behavior correction and managing reactivity. Open to private training or even board-and-train if it’s worth it.

If anyone has worked with someone locally that they trust, would really appreciate the recommendation.

Thanks 🙏

Has anyone ever done a pop up wedding in the historic area??

We have a group of less than 20. Are they any spots you can recommend? I've poked around and found it that I do not need a permit for a group that small. Thanks!
