I know it's not the best record player but it's a record player. Also sorry if the pic is bad
I have seen Alex G 5 times now throughout the years. Twice in la, once in Pomona, once in New York, and now in San Jose. This was by far the worst crowd of his, and possibly of any artist’s that I’ve been in. It’s … endearing that younger kids are getting into him now, but the crowd was literally 8-18 years old. These kids had NO concert etiquette or decorum. If you were there, you must have heard all of the very loud talking throughout the entire show. No one was moving or dancing, no one was singing; no one knew any of the songs. So everyone was just talking with their friends. I have never been in such a dull crowd at his show before. The kids in front of me were complaining that the songs kept changing from slow to fast, it was too loud, they wanted to leave, and they were sitting on the floor. I heard multiple people say they didn’t know the songs, that he “only played 4 good songs.” He played stuff from DSU, Headlights, Beach Music, God Save The Animals, House of Sugar, Rocket, Rules, Trick, and he even played Cards. If you don’t know any songs from literally any of those albums and you are just there to hear Sarah (which people were screaming for him to play of course) and Forever (which the kids went crazy for for some reason) then literally do no come. I had such an annoying time. Any one else feel this way?
I recently uncovered an entire archived VICE mini docu-series from 2016 on celebs and high profile folks from around that time. Alex G was featured on the series' eighth episode, detailing his early years growing up in pennsylvania and his family's musical influence on his career, as well as his rise professionally as a touring musical artist.
seems this was originally uploaded here a decade ago when it first aired, but most of the series has been taken off youtube and isn’t publicly available anymore. just reposting so it can live in the sub in perpetuity without being lost to time.
ps: I only put the "live performances" flair cause it wouldn't let me post without one.
Made by me and my GF! We will be there before and after the show! Super small batch!
Sizes S-XL! Second pic is the back of the shirts. We will also be at the San Jose show tomorrow!
Sorry to the dude who’s head got in frame.
I’ve never understood the misconception that most of his music is sad. Race isn’t even really sad. You have songs like salt where the song is lyrically sad, but sonically there’s an emotional disconnect from the lyrics(this is a compliment). His unreleased stuff usually sounds a lot sadder than anything he’s put out, but most of the stuff he released is hopemaxxing if anything.
The song “Hope” is about his friend overdosing, but obviously, as the title suggests, it’s a super hopeful song.
I guess I’m just wondering what songs people are listening to that Alex has actually put out officially that make them think his music is sad.
Spotify is doing a wrapped for all time. Alex G has always been my top artist since 2016 lol.
It says ive listened to Alex G for 26.7k minutes.
Interested to see other peoples amounts! Is this alot I have no idea.
Enough said

“I will not be shaking my ass. You guys are animals.”
- Mr G tonight at the SJ show after being violated six ways to Sunday while crowd surfing
freebies i handed out to ppl last night
literally no mention of sacramento until the encore. he absolutely did not say at any point of the show that he was having anything close to a good time :( i don’t get it, the crowd didn’t even seem into any of his music until the encore?? this was a SOLD OUT show?? maybe i’m just bitter or where i was in the crowd was not feeling it, but i overall just feel bad because it did not look like he was enjoying the crowd. shoutout him, the band, the crew, and the venue tho! music sounded so great and the lights were fucking amazing!! i still had a great time but i’m just curious what everyone’s else experiences were?
edit: also did he crowd surf tonight??
