Competing in combat sambo

Hey guys, a little while ago i went to a sambo tournament. One of my friends was competing and i was there to support.

I really enjoyed watching, and i might be interested in competing. I have a background in judo, i’ve competed internationally as a teen and early in adulthood. I continued recreationally (1x a week) ever since. I also have been training muay thai/kickboxing (2x a week) , BJJ (1x a week), and i attend a weekly MMA sparring class.

The closest gym from where i live that has a Sambo class is an hour drive away, i have a busy schedule so i wouldn’t be able to train very often since its that far and i don’t have consistent weekday evenings free to be away from home for like 4 hours. I could most likely only train Sambo exclusively like once every 2/3 weeks.

Could i still be competitive in any way without having that much exclusive combat Sambo experience?
