driving together

Hi everyone,

I have my L license in BC and I have my own car, but since I don’t have a full Class 5 license yet, I need someone with a valid Class 5 (25+) to sit with me while I drive.

Ideally, I’m looking for someone who lives in Richmond and works in Vancouver (around V5Z 1N1) we could commute together in the mornings to Vancouver and return to Richmond in the afternoons. I’m happy to offer free rides as part of this arrangement.

I’m responsible and careful, and committed to safe driving.

If you’re interested, please message me.

Thank you! Sara

Lost dog

Last seen April 19 around 11pm near No 2 and Williams. Goes by “Ouyu”. Runs if being chased. Not received by SPCA as of April 20th 2pm

Pierre Polievre was sitting front row for the UFC this weekend. Trump also sits front row at UFC events. Coincidence?

Petition to Retain Lifeguards on Vancouver’s City Beaches

Petition to Retain Lifeguards on Vancouver’s City Beaches:
https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/vancouver-lifeguards?source=direct_link&

You may be aware that the City of Vancouver, in concert with the Vancouver Park Board, has announced the removal of Lifeguards from five of the ten beaches around English Bay. Specifically Spanish West, Spanish East, Third Beach, Sunset Beach and Trout Lake.

We are trained professionals who educate the public, prevent accidents, respond to emergencies and save lives. As reported by the Lifesaving Society of BC,  99% of drownings occur at unsupervised beaches. The implications of leaving a significant portion of Vancouver’s beaches unsupervised are clear. This reduction impacts workers, puts public safety at risk and delays emergency response when it matters.

Additionally, this summer Vancouver will host FIFA and the hundreds of
soccer fans from all over the world will join us on the beaches, some of which now allow alcohol.

We are hopeful that you will consider voicing your support by signing this petition and distributing it among your friends, family and fellow members as these are the people whom the Vancouver Beach Lifeguards provide support, education, first aid and life saving.

Please don’t let a beautiful day at the beach turn tragic.

With thanks,
Vancouver Beach Lifeguards

Auto body shop

Damaged my car and having trouble getting any auto body to even pick up my phone. It won’t be going through icbc. I suspect maybe $2000 or less in damage. Anyone know a good (but inexpensive) shop?

There’s a dead goose on the roof of the BMO on the corner of Saba Rd and No. 3. I tried calling the SPCA and City of Richmond After Hours but couldn’t get through to anyone. Who else to call?

As I was arriving at Brighouse on the SkyTrain, I saw something really upsetting, a goose appeared to be dead, and its partner was trying to wake it up 😢.

I ended up taking the train back the other direction just to make sure I hadn’t imagined it, but sadly the other goose was still there and hadn’t moved.

I tried calling the SPCA and the City of Richmond’s after hours line, but couldn’t reach anyone. Does anyone know who else I should contact?

Any meeting rooms with a monitor?

Hi guys. Are there any places in Richmond that have small meeting rooms with a tv monitor where a small group of people can meet up and work on something?

Maybe like a library or community center?

I know schools have these rooms but I'm not a student anymore.

Calm hair salon for sensitive child?

A specific ask - my 4 year old hates getting his haircut. We’ve brought him to the kids places and he is absolutely traumatized. He’s requested to have his hair cut at home, and absolutely no buzzer, or any water spray.

I can’t cut hair, and I want him to have a nice haircut.

The only home service for haircuts I found is in Delta, and he’s not willing to come to Richmond.

I’ve negotiated with him to go to a quiet, calm hair salon, and absolutely no razer, just scissors. And no wetting his hair, but if the hair needs to be wet we can shower beforehand so that he goes in with clean wet hair.

Just wondering if anyone had any experience with a salon that is relatively quiet and calm, and can accommodate for my kid’s preferences?

No budget, just desperately trying to avoid trauma every 3-6 months…

Stupid driver

Don’t know what was going through this person’s head when they made that turn without even checking that several cars were coming from behind. I was so close to hitting this idiot. On top of that, he turned the wrong way, toward a direction where there isn’t even a road.

Where to buy soil?

Looking to buy some soil for a newly built tomato box planter. It’s about 6 ft x 4 ft by 20 inches deep, so getting soil at Canadian tire etc. would be pricy. Anyone know of a good place? Thanks!

Why isn't there a bike lane on st albans/cooney?

I live near No. 3 and francis and need to bike north almost every day to the centre for work, school, etc and it is very dangerous to get there. No3 road, Garden city and Gilbert are out of the question as I would die, which only leaves st albans due to lower traffic. The street already has more than enough space for 1 lane of traffic, bike lanes, and parking but there isnt any infastrcuture there and I often run into close calls with people speeding upto 70-80 km/h just to overtake me. Just one south-north bike lane in richmond other than having to go all the way to to railway would be life changing. I have plenty of east-west options with willams, woodwards, steveston but no south-north option which is argubaly more important.

Summer camps for elementary kids on the spectrum

Hi everyone,

I’m starting to look into summer camps for my elementary-aged child who is on the spectrum. I’ve seen quite a few general camps around, but I’m wondering if there are any that are more specialized or tailored for kids with autism or additional support needs.

My daughter stims a lot (flapping hands and takes longer to understand direction etc ). I see other kids from the rec program that doesn't understand her. Gives her an odd look and avoid conversation when she engage.

Ideally looking for something that has smaller group sizes, experienced staff, and a more structured or supportive environment. We’re based in the Richmond/Vancouver area, but open to nearby options if it’s a good fit.

If anyone has recommendations or personal experiences (good or bad), I’d really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Holi at South Arm Community Park next Saturday

Deleted the earlier post which had AI-generated image and it didn’t feel right. Here’s a cleaner update:

Holi 2026 is one week away.

South Arm Community Park will be hosting the event on Saturday, April 25, from 1–4 PM. It’s free and open to everyone, including kids.

A few things to know before coming:

Bring your own dry colors if you want to participate in the color play (limited supply on-site, no wet colors).

Bring water and stay hydrated.

There’ll be a chocolate stall if you want a snack.

Wearing white makes the colors stand out better, but that’s up to you.

If you’re planning to come, RSVP here: https://indiansinrichmondbc.github.io/holi/
