Help with curved fades on audio clips and envelopes

I'm jumping into Reason 14 after some time away and I recall there being an update a while ago that improved envelopes in the sequencer, specifically, on audio clips.

Creating a linear fade in/out is easy peasy but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to make logarithmic curves. Is it not possible to?

Hopefully I am missing something simple, but I spent a decent amount of time searching for help and wasn't able to make progress.

Thank you 🙏

Here’s a free RE for the people! Ghost Notes!

As a new developer in the space, building REs for the community has been an awesome experience. This is a small thank you to everyone supporting and testing along the way.

Ghost Notes is a generative MIDI tool built around five unique Ghost Modes:

• Cloud — randomized interval clouds for lush, sparkling arp textures

• Octave — clean octave jumps for bassline fills and melodies

• Stutter — rapid-fire pitch repeats for glitchy percussion and hats

• Response — a call-and-response mode that answers after you play

• Target Note — auto-generates fixed-pitch ghost hits for drum programming and rolls

Hope you all have fun with it.

Anyone creating rock music in Reason

I was a die hard Reason user but when they were slow to support VSTs, I decided to move to Studio One Pro. While I like S1, it's been somewhat unstable as of late with random crashes.

I was just using the Reason Rack but I'm thinking of moving back and using Reason as my primary DAW.

I am an 80's rock guy and I was just wondering if anyone else out there has been using Reason to record rock/pop stuff. I watch tutorials and most are geared for EDM or that type of genre.

Just curious what other Reasoners are doing and how do you approach song creation.

Thanks!

Is 14 stable?

Hey, don't want to start a war, please be kind.

Say, after the struggles of the recent years which required too many workarounds and at times tested my frustration tolerance in hardcore mode...

Is it stable yet? Compared to like 10 or 11?

Standalone user here, including hardware and Vst.

Would really like to hear from long term users!

Thank you very much.

Can I uninstall Reason 13 after installing 14?

Maybe I missed the .readme but upgrading information from Reason 13 to 14 for subscription users seemed woefully inadequate. And by that I mean none at all.

Can I uninstall 13 now I have 14 running?

Crazy Latency

I’ve used Reason since 2.5. Switched over to Ableton in 2017, then switched to Cubase in 2019. Kept all three up to date, so the latest versions of all. Particularly because I like to use Reason Rack in Cubase.

I have a windows 11 machine.
13th gen i9 @ 3.00ghz
96 Gb ram.
16 Gb GeForce RTX 5060ti
Scarlett 18i20 audio interface.

Was super excited about Reason 14 and wanted to give it a go again as my full time Daw. Upgraded to 14.

I’m finding I have to keep my buffer size on a 22 track project at 192 minimum. Any lower starts to crack and pop. I’m using a fair amount of Sonible EQs and Compression (the AI ones) and also Mastering the Mix’s Fuser Plugin. I know these are pretty resource intensive.

When I hit my midi drum pads or keys there is such a lag before I hear the sound. Toggling the Delay Comp button corrects that, but then when I play the song, the tracks that are using those above mentioned plugins are out of sync. If I turn off all of those plugins, it corrects the issue, but I still can’t get below 192 on the buffer.

I started over and replicated the exact same song in Cubase using the exact same of everything including midi data, vsts, reason rack for the specific reason items, etc, and I can get down to 64 on the buffer in Cubase 15. No lags or weird latency anywhere.

I want to say I experienced this in the past with Reason. I can’t imagine a whole lot of people experience this, because it is horrible, but wondering if I’m doing something wrong or what. Not sure. Reaching out the community because I love Reason and wanted to use it more, other than just the rack.

Thanks for reading.

Question about Reason14

My workflow and routing is quite chaotic by times.
Sometimes I take different instruments from different channels and eventually I route them together in a Line Mixer (which I insert with caps, so it doesn't cause a new channel) and add more effects after the line mixer. Sometimes I split a signal and add it to a completely different channel and my cables are all over the place.
How would that translate to the new rack-per-channel view in Reason 14?

It is possible to turn off following the playback head?

I could swear that there used to be an option to turn on or off following the playhead in the sequencer view. Like, to prevent the view from shifting over every time the playhead goes off the side of the screen while playing. I can no longer find that option in Reason 14 and it's driving me nuts.

What to do, rack n Reason

I’ve completed a rack with a mixer; compressor, equalizer, and a multiband processor. I use Reason 5; create what I can in Reason and use Komplete Audio 2 interface into Audacity (going to start using Cakewalk).
In my situation; how would you integrate all of this into improving the production process for tracks?
PS I plan on upgrading to Reason 13-14 by the end of this year; I just need a better PC/Mac first.

How does one create sounds like this in reason?

The artist uses reason for her work, but I'm fairly new to it and can't figure out how to do stuff like this. Please point me to relevant docs and tutorials if there are any.

I've had the authenticator installed so I don't have to have an internet connection every time I want to open the software.

Now it's asking for my username and password and I'm unable to access my project files. I am 100% sure I am entering it correctly, but it just keeps giving me the login error. I was able to log on perfectly fine to the website. I am staring at my correct password in my account settings on accounts.reasonstudios.com, but the actual program won't accept the login. I've double checked the DAW and the Reason Companion App have all been updated. I've done all the basic trouble shooting, rebooted, etc. no luck.

This couldn't possibly be happening at a worse possible time. I'm cutting it close on a deadline and need to be able to access my project files. Is any one else having issues or know what is going on? How can I avoid this in the future? I shouldn't ever have to "log in" to software that I own the license for. Historically Reason has been my favorite DAW because I didn't have to deal with issues like this so it's disappointing and frustrating to have this happen.

I just upgraded to R14. And I lost the Track Sort option.

I've searched through every menu, but I absolutely cannot find the sort function.

Back in version 13, they temporarily patched the sort function to disable it due to a temporary error. I remember that being a few years ago.

Is this the same situation? Was there any mention of this issue prior to release?

The tracks in the sequencer and mixer are all jumbled up, and it feels like I'm in hell.

Can't login at all

I'm trying to login to my account on a new computer and just keep getting recursively sent back to the landing page. I successfully reset my password as the help article recommended, but when I login with it or try to start a support ticket, I'm logged out and taken back to the landing screen. Tried just going to accounts.reasonstudios.com and was just sent to landr. Tried on both chrome and safari, same results on both. Anyone know how to get in touch with support?
