Do you regret buying the razr?
I'm really interested in buying one, but want some real world reviews before I plunge
RAZR 70 Ultra - Upgraded to this Stunner! (+ Free Case)
Only 24 hours old but ask away, I'll answer whatever I can do.
(Battery is insane! It's not even been charged yet but is still on the half charge that it came with fresh out the box lol)
Also if there's anything I need to know about Android 16 would be much appreciated, as I had been using my 40 Ultra for the past three years until now.
The free case was surprisingly better quality than I expected as I assumed it was going to be just the two transparent pieces like my 40 Ultra came with.
Has the Android 16 issue been fixed?
...where the outer display no longer displays apps correctly. I got the 60 Ultra a few weeks ago and haven't updated to 16 because of the
complaints in this sub.
Has there been an update pushed that fixed it?
Motorola razr plus 2025 (woot deal)
I love the color mocha mousse for the price it’s a great version 😁. I just transfer everything. The patches kill me. Like 6 reboots and it took a long time. Now in the last version of android. I like the case but got one in blue when this one break.
Am I the only one....
Out here waiting for the Fold to hit the US market, hoping for some good trade in deals for their 2025 Ultra?
RAZR Fold Gripes
I do want to preface this review by saying that this is my own opinion and I am putting this out there to have a discussion rather than start an argument. This subreddit is really passionate about razr devices from what i've seen, so please remember this disclaimer.
Quick Note on Build Quality:
- Hinge is strong and not creaky at all
- Heavy in hand compared to N6
- It does spring open to 90^(o) very quickly but holds its position really well past that
- Fits into hand well, I do love rounded edges
- Surprisingly slim considering that's not a major selling point
- Double speakers aren't that bad
- Design is boring
- Call audio quality is very poor, translates to recorder app too (background audio is not filtered out and voice isn't clear)
- Camera is on par with N6 and Fold 7
- No OTG support (so no wired desktop mode or device connection)
Software Gripes:
I will be comparing the software with the likes of the Oneplus Open as ,even though almost 3 years old, the software on that device far exceeds the razr fold. Oneplus (or really oppo) really understand what the book-style fold user ACTUALLY needs on a phone. It may seem I am nit-picking in some of these examples, but when it comes to customisation, this is where android is supposed to shine compared to apple. I buy android devices because of the customisation and the granularity of it all, so if something is missing that I use regularly, it bothers me and puts me off.
Font inconsistencies throughout the device, this is one example. Can't be changed or fixed.
No always on displays settings customisations. This is a theme throughout. There is a real lack of customisation.
Probably a preferential thing, but i hate the fact that dark mode still has a coloured tint in the settings or other non themed apps but there are a few areas that are actually grey. It just bothers me so much the way they have designed the ui. Do you see how the 1+ is true black even in settings and is consistent in all native apps in OOS.
No way to customise the icons shown on the notification/status bar except displaying battery percentage
Limited app cloning capabilities. I can clone every app on the 1+ which is more helpful than you realise when it comes to multi-tasking. Think about it, you can create a clone of word and have 2 separate documents open and edited at the same time.
Limited screen recording settings options
Limited screenshot settings options
Ai key/button can not be remapped to be an alert key/button. It is dedicated to ai. What if a few years from now motorola decides to stop supporting moto ai, that button becomes useless. Its current function allows moto to catch you up on missed notifications or take notes (record audio, transcribe and summarise).
Again, ui issues. The top of this audio native app doesn't extend the whole screen making the whole experience feel cheap and tacky. Again dark mode not being fully dark. Overall the UI here is subpar and visually displeasing.
Transcribe and summary are very hit and miss. Also the audio playback is horrible, there's so much background noise being captured. 1+ handles both perfectly, even including a clear audio setting to filter for better noise reduction, being able to switch recording types is so helpful on the 1+. Again, no customisation.
This is more of a google gripe. I hate the fact there is no native app for files and other essentials (calculator, clock, photos). Look how nice the 1+ looks, how can I not miss that?
Home screen customisation options are poor.
App customisation options are poor and limited. Simply being able to uninstall an app from the home screen is such a small but extremely underrated feature i would be missing. Nit-picky yes, I can easily click app info and do it in there, but UI/UX is meant to make things more convenient.
More examples of lacking customisation options.
The good:
- Multi-tasking view on the device is decent, being able to have 4 apps open simultaneously is a standard now but some devices are still missing this (pixel)
- Smart connect is one of the best designed thing on this phone. Pairing devices and accessories is so easy and quick. Everything just works smoothly.
- Pen is seamless and smooth (I do miss the charging case though from the oppo n6)
Cross control is elite
Mobile desktop is great too
Additional Remarks:
Case availability for this device is honestly laughable. As of 10th may, there are only 3 different types of cases available. There may be more once the US pre-orders start, but I am skeptical of this. Motorola themselves don't have any hinge-protection style case available on their website. I just want a kickstand. Again, I miss the charging case that the n6 offered.
| Razr Fold | Oppo N6 | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | £1799 (£1421.99 w/ student discount) | £1300 |
| Chip | Gen 5 | Gen 5 Elite |
| IP rating | IP49 | IP59 |
Final Words:
Weighing all these things, I have come to the conclusion that the RAZR fold is not for me. There are a few animation bugs and jitters that I haven't shown that draw me even further away from this device. This and everything combined (poor UI/UX, poor customisation options, lack of cases, higher price tag in comparison to spec, lack of visual consistencies, average build quality) has pushed me to request a refund on the fold.
I paid $500 for the wood ⏸️ mountain trail color, but they sent the cabaret pink instead. Phone was new sealed in box and factory unlocked, so I ended up just keeping it and they took $50 off for the mixup (ordered on ebay). I honestly settled on the color because pink is my second least favorite after green plus I'm a guy, but oh well. 🤷🏾♂️
Battery is pretty good and even better on Wi-Fi. If you have a Samsung watch beware, it chewed through battery so much I disconnected it and I'm just using the pixel watch for now with it.
I had the razr 2024+ and the flip 7, and I prefer the razr cover screen's software but the Samsung frame. I hate that I have to use the old 3 button navigation bar because the gestures are basically unusable on the front screen with a case. I also hate I have to use a tpu protector on the front screen because of the slight curve, so for now it has no external screen protector. Also, may be a gboard issue but if I have the keyboard in right one handed mode on the inner screen, it forces the external keyboard to left one handed mode with 0 way to fix it. And lastly, auto brightness is still an issue from like 2 years ago 🤦🏾♂️ these are my only real gripes so far.
But other than that, still a great phone for a great price. Performance is great, charging is great, battery is great, everything is great 🤷🏾♂️😂 except software support. How is a $1400 msrp phone still stuck on the December 2025 security patch 😭
I may eventually trade it in but only if moto gives a great deal on the upcoming razr fold but if not, guess I'll probably keep it. Seems like a paid a great price considering the 2026 ultra is exactly the same as the 25 ultra with a slightly bigger battery (4700 vs 5000mah). However, there's no 1tb version of the 26 ultra so if you need that extra space, 25 it is and $450 was too good a deal.
How to remove the adds from the game mode bubble.
Can't even take a screenshot of it. Why? Also absolute mindslop datamining garbage. I don't ever want to see those games on my phone. Anyone know how to remove this sponsored content that takes up space on my screen
Am I crazy
Switching from an iPhone (only phone I've ever had) to a Motorola razr 2025 ultra (I really want the pink one lol). Am I crazy for switching or do yall love your phones?
Hey guys, my razr fold that i got couple of days ago, is having some stuttering when I am using the gesture navigation, for example when i swipe up from bottom of the screen to go home, and when i open apps sometimes too.
You can see in the video that 8 of 9 apps had stutter animation when i wanted to swipe up to go back to home, and instagram has animation stutter when i am opening it most of the time.
I tested to go back to 3 button navigation bar and there is no stutter when i am swiping up to go home, but there is stutter when I am opening apps.
I am running Android 16 version. Its unacceptable that people buy phones for min 1800 usd and up to 2500 usd (fifa version) and we still have software issues and bugs. This is considered a flagship, I have s26 ultra and its buttery smooth with no stutters at all.
I am not saying the phone is bad but it could be much better and if u have a budget for 1 phone only then go for samsung/apple if u want to be satisfied in all aspects, unless we get motorola to fix these issues and starts caring about customers.
Motorola Razr Fold Review/thoughts
Hi
i received the new razr fold earlier today and just want to give my thoughts Incase anyone is thinking about getting one, i paid £1600 with free pen, earbuds, watch and 3 years insurance, damage protection, 3 claims allowed covers everything .
i have had all honor folds v2,v3 v5, oppo n6, and all samsungs up to fold 7.
first i will start with i am shocked how good this phone is i was not expecting it to be this good, and am really stunned, no way did i think it would come close to the oppo n6 but it does.
The build quality is excellent, the button placements is really good, you can even use the power button to swipe settings down from top never seen this on a phone before. The frame around outside is angled in, it makes it so easy to open the fold up nice touch. The phone seems solid like it can withstand a drop and hinge feels really good.
the displays are both amazing they go really bright and will have no problem seeing them in direct sunshine, its alot brighter than the samsung and oppo, the size of the front screen, is about the same width as honor v3 but around 3 mm taller(see photo) , the Crease is not very noticable, don't know if this is because its brand new, but out of the box its better than the honors and samsung when you rub finger across you cannot really feel it, i was surprised as the videos online of this phone it looks worse, its still not as good as the oppo N6.
The software is also very good , not as good as oneui but its definitely better than honors and maybe on par with oppos. The cpu is slower than the oppos but the games i played its perfectly fine, and most people will never notice the difference.
The Cameras are the standout, this is the first fold with flagship cameras, and there all amazing especially the main 50MP Sony LYTIA 828 (same sensor as oppo x9pro and vivo x300 pro) i've only took around 30 photos but really pleased, the detail, lowlight and zoom easily beats the other folds i've had. i have not used video so cannot comment on that.
Cannot comment on battery but should be good at 6000. Speakers are excellent best on any fold ive tried, really loud and good quality
the free pen i got is really good its better than the one i got with the oppo n6 but i wish i could put it in case and charge like the oppos.
Tried the Motorola Connect (like samsung dex) and it works really good , honor has similar but oppo doesn't.
overall i've only used it for a few hours but i love it i might even like it better than the Oppo N6 but will give it a week, and then a proper review.
If you want a excellent fold with the best cameras get the Motorola, if your not that bothered about cameras get the Oppo N6 both are the best folds out.
The only cons about the motorola are ,i wish the bezels on front screen had been smaller and there's zero cases or screen protectors to buy.
Edit there actually a case in the box ,not the best but better than nothing.
My Fold has arrived :)
My Razr Fold finally got delivered this afternoon!
Very impressive seeming build quality and design. It seems really quality. The only thing I'm a little disappointed about is it only has a slot for a single physical SIM (reviews were mixed as to whether it had a dual SIM or not). I'm also very impressed with the earbuds and watch. I wasn't expecting much but the buds in particular have outstanding music quality.
Razr fold 2026
Its crazy the difference between the animation optimization of the outer screen and inner screen. The fold on the outer screen(single display) feels like a ferrari, however on the inner screen(dual display) becomes stuttery in some situations.
As well as overall optimizations on the inner screen is way less, bugs happen while using apps like snapchat and instagram.
1 more downside is that cameras are not fully supported by social media apps, which limits the cameras zoom(no 100x zoom in social media apps) and quality when u try to capture something using social media apps.
If these stuff gets fixed in the next update, it will make the phone superior and compete for best foldable of 2026.
New glass on Razr 70, more reliable?
Hello All... do you think the new stronger glass on the Razr 70 will improve reliability with the screen issues or is that a separate issue?
I just received the Rio Red 60 Ultra 1TB but am debating returning it for the new blue/purple color but only if those changes are expected to make the phone more reliable from all the screen issues. Otherwise I'd rather keep the 1TB since its no longer offered. I have about 5 days left to return still. Any opinions are appreciated.
Phone overheating over night
Hey everyone I got my razr 2025 a month ago and have been using it without any stress for the past month. In the last 3 days, I've been waking up to it overheated and battery completely drained. I must mention that I sleep with the phone under my pillow and I have an alarm set.
Any ideas on why it is overheating? I checked app battery usage and strangely it shows battery levels dropping but all apps are shown with <1% usage with 0m used
Scratch easy screen
I really like this Phone but the screen sucks I barely open it yet I'm starting to get those faint lines in the middle where it bends and little hair line scratches smh .
AT&T Insurance or Moto Care? Please, help.
My Razr Plus 2025 arrives today. I included insurance from AT&T when I ordered the phone. I am coming from an iPhone 14 Pro. I have had Apple for years because I have so many Apple products. Is it better to AT&T insurance, Moto Care, or do I need both? Please, help!
Support woes
Back at the end of April, I had to send my razr ultra 2025 to motorola for warranty after it failed catastrophically. The phone would overheat, power cycle, and im pretty sure the heat damaged multiple components. So I send it in and they replaced the screen, motherboard, and a bunch of other stuff. I get it back today and it looks like they opened it with a metal prybar.
I can't send it back in because I need a phone while I'm traveling next week, but am I being unreasonable in thinking that getting your phone back from a repair in a noticeably worse visual condition than before is not acceptable? With everything they had to replace this is basically a new phone in the same chassis and I'm wondering why they didn't just send me a new device.
