BW Pestilence

BW Pestilence

Here is something I’ve been working on. I’m an old legacy player and this is a version of the first constructed deck I ever created. I got the cards off a website called eBay that had only been in operation for around 9 months.

anyway I do have my old stifle/dreadnought deck and I realize it’s top tier but I’m curious if this old nostalgic BW suicide black deck stands a chance at all In the meta.

I won the Singapore Nationals with Sligh - at my first PM event. Top 16 decklists, metagame breakdown, my list, tournament report , Q&A are in the post or incoming!

The Singapore Nationals was held on Sat, 9 May. This was our first tournament and 40 players turned up! The field included several local PM stalwarts, some PT competitors and a few visitors from overseas.

See photos above for a quick event summary from the TO as well as huge thanks to kind sponsors who donated over $1k of prizes.

I took the event down with Sligh - facing bogeyman and recent Lobstercon winner Replenish 3x times, including int the QF and Finals. Yes, it's true, this was my first PM event.

Top 16 decklists are here: metagame breakdown in images. 4 out of the 5 Replenish decks made the T8.

Is Gold-Border Allowed at SCGCon Cincinnati?

If not, how well stocked are the vendors at these things usually? Is it hard to find three or four wastelands and cartographers in the hour or so before it kicks off?

Lobstercon Premodern

I just got back from Lobstercon’s Premodern event hosted by the Duress Crew. I joined the Premodern community over the last couple of years as a way to get away from the hyper-competitive atmosphere of modern MTG. So finding out that some guy traveled all the way from New York just to cheat his way through the event is absolutely wild. What the hell, man… imagine joining an old format to cheat.

Is Mono Red Sligh playable?

Hi! I ask this question because I just printed out two decks to play, mono red sligh and stiflenought. A friend and I were playing them against each other and Blue won almost every time. I know that that deck is dominant right now, and maybe it just counters sligh due to its strength and ability to interact, but even post board it felt pretty dominant.

Is this sligh list a little weak? I saw one with some [[flame rifts]] and [[sulfuric vortex]] to do some more damage potentially as the deck can't really outvalue Blue anyway. Is it just that we were playing those two specific lists against each other and that in a tournament things would be different? Looking to play both in local tournaments so I would hate to see one deck be somewhat less viable but I also see reasonable (but not amazing) stats with sligh on this reddit and in the tournaments.

Thanks in advance!

I love playing paper magic with my friends!

Sideboard is not finalized, don’t have everything foil for that yet but the main board is. Some concessions had to be made since some older cards don’t have foil printings. It won’t be completely ”optimal” till then but my happiness is optimal with it. I took ideas from a lot of other lists but fpawluszmtg‘s u/w dreadnought list was a deciding factor on adding white In the end. My friend had a dci Stifle in his binder he let me have that started me on this path.

Gush collaboration

4 dudes who like to color on magic cards (Mr.Meseeks, Travis/retromancers Tonywok/retromancers and myself) came together for a collaboration project unlike any other - a playset of uniquely divided gush. For this project we split each copy of gush into 4 parts - an "X", "+", rows, and lastly a free for all. Each person started one and sent it to a different person.

We couldn’t decide who should get them, so we chose to auction them off for charity - the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (details to come). More info at Mr.Meseeks TikTok

Hermit FEB Top 8 at Lobstercon 2026 - aardshark's Tournament Report

New tournament report from Galen Lemei (aardshark on Discord).

As most of you probably saw on stream he went 13-2 in swiss as the only undefeated player going into Day 2, making Top 8 with an absolutely savage run.

The report covers all 16 rounds, the decklist, tournament prep, mindset going in, and the always-stellar vibes of this truly special event.

Big credit to the FEB Cabal - Robin, Mike, McLean, Carl, Biel, Clara, MoxlessGuy and others. hFEB put 4 of 13 pilots into Day 2 this year.

Hello everyone, today we’re taking a look at another 9‑game series (5 maindeck, 4 sideboard). The decks: Mono‑Red Sligh and Moneyball Black.

https://youtu.be/Q5ZqHGD3luk

Another clash between tier‑1 contenders, but more importantly two trusted lists for these archetypes — proof that a single color is more than enough to cause chaos.

Mono‑Red Sligh enters the matchup as the favorite, while Moneyball Black clings to Masticore as its best hope to turn things around.
Black actually plays very few creatures with real staying power, the kind that can truly strike fear into the opponent.

So in the end, what is it really? A midrange deck or an aggro deck?
For now, rather than answering that question, it will simply try to win.

🖤 Moneyball Black: 🖤

4 Dark Ritual
4 Duress
4 Cabal Therapy
4 Ravenous Rats
3 Withered Wretch
2 Nantuko Shade
2 Knight of Stromgald
4 Hypnotic Specter
