What is this organism?

No it’s not AI. This is a real video I found on Reddit a while back and did some research after someone said what it was.

Jiggle

Not my video, but my husband’s. We found this weird stick covered in a freaky jello substance. After some incredibly scientific poking and subsequent research, apparently it’s a fungus?? And it’s *edible*????

Disturbing as it is, it’s satisfying to watch. Hope y’all enjoy ✌️

During the "Black Plague", Stick-Poking was a common method for doctors treating Plague victims.

It allowed them to "check the pulse", remove clothes, and inspect patients from a safer distance. With less direct contact, it was a somewhat effective method to limit spread.

The more you know.

Inky cap mushrooms (I think?) found in the horses’ paddocks. Admittedly, I’ll have to give the stick a 1/10 as I wasn’t prepared, and in my frantic excitement, I grabbed the first stick I could scavenge. I have learned my lesson and will be putting effort into finding a higher quality stick.
