Talk me down from getting a Ko II

Hi, I love Koala and have a SMK25 with an Ipad thats working very good. I use it with AUM and in collaboration with Model D and Model 15 and sometimes Drambo to feed Koala new stuff.

Now I also have a PO 33 and I love it to death. its small, quirky and plain fun.

And sometimes, the Koala workflow seems a bit too involved, firing up the ipad, connecting the BT, making sure the midi is working etc. Thats why i was looking to maybe getting a KO II (used and dirt cheap after the MPC sample came around).

Now I know that it is limited heavily and thats part of the reason to get. But then again: i have enough already, dont I?

So please talk me down from not getting a EP 133 KO II :-)

Thx you fellow Koalans.☺

A Pocket Operator-style drum machine for iPhone and Android that generates playable patterns live and exports them to MIDI.

Designed for Pocket Operator fans, this app focuses on fast rhythm sketching, live pattern mutation, and hands-on sequencing. Tap in beats, generate new drum patterns on the fly, tweak them while playback is running, and export your groove as MIDI for Ableton or whatever you use next.

HELP: Fixing a botched pot replacement (PO-28 robot)

Dropped off my PO-28 at a repair shop for replacing a loose pot, along with spare pots. Came back for it after a couple hours, only to find out that the shop still didn't manage to finish the repair. Took my PO-28 to a different repair shop, then found out that a resistor below the right pot was missing. D:

The second repair shop said that they could fix the PO-28 if I could find a replacement resistor. So I'm asking for help in finding out what kind of resistor should I get.

Best way to save/backup beats and songs on the PO-33?

I want to clear all the slots on my PO-33 but save my beats and songs i made. Is there any good way to do this? How do you do it?

Does everyone's PO33 have this issue with sample trimming?

I'm feeling super annoyed by my PO-33's trimming issues. I'm picking it back up after a break, and not sure if it was always this way or if this is some newly emerged issue.

Basically, I'm trying to trim a bunch of shifts of a sample. After I set the trim points of slice 3, if I go back to slice 2 and try to move its start point a little, it immediately jumps to the start point of slice 3.

It just kind of takes whatever trim points I've been using on one slice and suddenly applies them to other slices.

Does everyone's machine do this? Is there a fix? Feels kind of unusable if there's not a way around this.

Recommendations for replacement pots?

My PO-33 knobs are super jittery, and I think I'm ready to commit to changing the pots. However, I've got a lot going on right now and don't have a ton of time to find the specs and the best replacements.

Has anyone here done a replacement and been very happy with their new knobs? Can someone drop me a link? Thank you!!

Made some carrying cases for 1, 3, 4, and 6 Pocket Operators, curious how people usually store theirs

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on a few different carrying case designs for Pocket Operators and wanted to share the current versions. I ended up making formats for 1, 3, 4, and 6 POs, depending on how big the setup is.

Some are more compact, all have extra room for things like batteries and cables, and overall I’ve been trying to make them practical for actually moving gear around instead of just storing it on a shelf.

I was also curious, how do most of you usually organize your Pocket Operators?

Do you prefer:

  • one case per PO
  • small grouped setups
  • one bigger case for everything
  • or just throw them in a bag and go

Would be interesting to see how other people are carrying / storing theirs.

Thanks a lot!

First semi-serious PO33 track

played with the thing about a month, finally decided to use it for one track creation and not for 5-6 various beats.
sampled smooth operator, weapon of choice and my yamaha pss51. drum kits from youtube. still a bit wonky tho)

Was this a fair purchase?

I was just looking at pocket operators on reverb and saw this listing with a PO-33 KO! unit including the SPO-XS case. I know the case on its own can be pretty expensive second hand on its own, so bit the bullet and purchased this when I ran across it.

Funnily enough I ordered a new PO-33 a couple days ago. I'll use the new one in the this case and have the used one as backup or might sell it on its own.
