Wondering how i record my mic and in game audio separately

For example some parts of the game i might talk and later would want to just keep the audio of the game playing or example if i heard something and was talking then in editing for the replay i can play it back without my mic.

OBS no responde

Can hear audio but its not recorded?

so here's my problem.

I have the audio tracks seperated to 2, one for the game and one for my mic. with the game set to track 1 and me to track 2.

now you can see obs is picking up both me and the game, and when I play the recording in the video player I can hear the first audio track.

but when I open it in DaVinci resolve, decpite seeing both of the audio tracks, their both dead silent. like neither have recorded anything.

which makes no sense if I can hear the game in the recording, so wtf?

I've tried fucking around in the settings and figuring out why this is happening, but for the life of me I am too tech illiterate.

please someone get me out of this hell.

Having OBS opened is making my game choppy

I have a Lenovo Legion Pro 7. When playing Marvel Rivals, it says my avg. fps is 230 but it feels so choppy when obs is opened. Does anyone have an idea as to why and a solution for it?

Anyone using emeet pixy with obs? Having issues or works fine?

Thinking about getting emeet pixy for streaming cause the tracking feature looks useful. I move around a lot when I talk and my current webcam just shows an empty chair half the time.

Before i buy wanted to ask if anyone here actually uses it with obs. Any driver issues? Does the tracking cause weird lag or stuttering on stream? Does it save setting or do you have to adjust every time you open obs?

Trying to avoid buying something that looks good on paper but ends up being a headache to get working

Thanks guys.

replays saving above the maximum length

I've been having an issue with the obs replay buffer where the replays saved are way above the maximum length I set it to.
The maximum replay time is set to 5 seconds (cause i wanna get clips that are below 10mb) but it often saves clips that are around 15 seconds long.
I keep resetting the max time but the replay buffer just ignores it.
I should also mention that I'm on linux mint cause i think thats importand idk.

Microphone stops working at higher volumes

Hello!

This has been such an issue for me, I've finally turned to reddit. Right off the bat I'm going to say this might be "microphone-itself" issue, but whenever I yell or scream too loud, it just gets all quiet on me. There are no filters on the headphones in OBS.

Fixing a coloring issue on OBS coming from 4K Capture Utility

hello!

quick tldr before my question: the new NVIDIA update rendered recording through hardware on 4K Capture Utility useless, and I spent the past few hours reconfiguring my settings in order to use OBS instead of relying on the 4K Capture Utility *Software* recording.

I have it mostly situated but the final problem that I'm running into is a quality decrease and a color mismatch between the two softwares. the 4K capture utility looks sharper and the colors feel more correct than they do on OBS right now, unless I am mistaken.

is there something to help me fix that? or point me in the right direction?

Edit: apparently I can't post pictures here, so I'll link the original post i made in the elgato subreddit that has the two pictures for comparison https://www.reddit.com/r/elgato/s/T7Moceee48

Editing question: Does frame sampling 240FPS gameplay down to 60FPS improve motion smoothness?

I was thankin' that if I record at 60FPS then the time between each frame could be irregular. So if I give the software more frames it can pick and choose the ones with more consistent framepacing. Is this possible?

MacBook or Windows Laptop (capture card streaming)

TLDR

With a capture card, how would a MacBook m4/m5 pro chip hold up with streaming through OBS?

—————————

Hey everyone,

I’m getting back into streaming with OBS, but I’m in a situation where I don’t always have access to my main desktop PC.

I’ve been using an asus G16 (5070 Ti) laptop, but I’ve run into inconsistencies while playing games directly on the laptop while streaming.

I’ve noticed that performance is much more stable when I use my elgato capture card with external devices like my Legion Go 2 or Switch, which helps offload the workload from the laptop.

Originally, I chose the G16 so I could stream my PC games directly, but since I’m relying on a capture card, I’m starting to wonder if switching to a MacBook Pro (m4 pro or m5 pro chip) might make more sense.

Curious if anyone has experience with a similar setup or thoughts on this approach.

No audio in OBS from USB capture device

I'm using an HDMI to USB3.0 capture device to input video and audio into OBS, but I am not registering any audio input in the program.

I have confirmed that the audio from the source is reaching the computer, as I can monitor it through the computer's sound devices directly. But in OBS, I have set up the audio input, and it does not register any levels, nor can I hear anything when the input is set to monitor.

I can, however, get audio in OBS from the desktop as an input, so as a temporary workaround I have been able to use this as the audio to record with my video, but if possible I would prefer to resolve the core problem and record the audio directly from the capture device.

I've tried all the basic settings recommendations that I've found online when researching this issue, but none of them have worked.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

Games causing OBS to crash?

I've only had this happen a couple of times, but how/why would a game cause OBS to act up - blacking out docks, leading to OBS crashing as the game is closed? I tried to get the analyzer to analyse the file, but it didn't seem to offer anything - it's mostly worked really well, but a only a couple of games (this one was The Spotter: Dig or Die) have caused it to shit itself and I can't see why?

Stutter with just the recording

I’m trying to get a channel going but I’ve got a lot of issues recording my gameplay. No matter if I use OBS, Shadowplay or Action! (Licenced), it all acts the same way. Only software I don’t have trouble with is Bandicam (portable), which I don’t like to use because the audio is bad. As you can see in the video around 35 seconds there’s some stuttering going on in the recording while the hardware isn’t spiking and there’s no FPS drop the same happens at 1:50. The game runs smooth aswell, it’s just the recording that messes up. I’ve tried plenty of things but nothing seems to work. This stutter appears avout every minute and holds on for a few seconds. What can I do because it drives me nuts, looks like a background process maybe but can’t figure it out.

Things I tried:

- Set PCIe of graphics card to Gen3

- Disable HAGS

- lower bitrate and resolution drastically

- updated chipset and Bios drivers

- disabled fTPM

- disabled Global C states

- disabled gamebar and Nvidia app overlay

- disabled memory compression

Specs:

MB: Asrock X670PG Lightning

GPU: RTX4080

CPU: Ryzen 7800 X3D

HDD: 2TB SSD M.2 (Recording on a different SSD)

RAM: 2x 32GB DDR5 6000mhz

I hope you guys can help me out. Because I’m clueless

Been suddenly getting a lot of encoding issues. Help?

This only started a couple days ago and im very confused as to what to do. With almost every game ive streamed for the last week ive been getting a lot of encoding issues. This has only been happening for about a week

I streamed Minecraft Bedrock edition with the ongoing Twitch sponsorshop thing and was having slight issues there. but it really started when I started my very first playthrough of LA Noire. The "encoder overloading" error message is starting to happen almost every 5 minutes, maybe even sooner. I dont understand what is going on and could use help. I am new to streaming and to OBS

I have a very decent rig though. I5-14400F Intel CPU, a 4070 TI Super GPU with 16GB of VRAM and 64GB of RAM. Ive tried disabled Hardware acceleration for all my other programs I have in the background, running OBS as admin, telling OBS to take high prio. and I'm already running on the p1 encoder.

And last night when I streamed the Kiln open beta playtest I was also having slight issues then too. and thats a brand new AAA title, which even if its in playtesting I would expect it to be optimized.

If it was just LA Noire I would assume its just old game being old and badly optimized, but is not just LA Noire.

Could really use any help that people can think of
