I know my question is a bit vague so i’ll add more context in here. Ive landed a Graduate Job in Northampton and will be moving there in the next couple of months. I currently live in Surrey and love it here. I haven’t heard the best things about Northampton (particularly the town centre) but have heard great things about nearby villages.

Now for my first year i’ll be without a car so living in those villages is basically not an option (as i’ll need good and reliable public transport) but during my second year, i’ll have bought myself a car. It would be particularly nice to be in the area between Northampton and Milton Keynes (I’m not from here so not sure if that area has a name lmao).

What villages would you recommend?

Planning on moving to Northampton (purchasing a home) having been born and raised in London and never left. To those who have moved from london to Northampton, how have you found it? I'm ready to leave the fast pace, hustle bustle of london.

I’m getting married at St John the Baptist Church in Northampton. I am from Sheffield and I don't know Northampton well as it my partner hometown. I’m looking for a wedding reception venue for around 150 guests. Our budget for the venue hire is about £1,000 excluding foid drink as we 3k budget for that and we’re happy to consider dry hire / self-catering options (we don’t mind organising our own catering).

We’ve heard a few names like The Guildhall but that about 3k for hire which outside my budget. Anyone any ideas?

Any recommendations ? Quite fancy a nice meal and one for desert. Thanks.

Looking for any social groups close to town that my son who is clever, caring and funny, can join. He’s into reading, creative stuff, music, gym (kind of), cinema, walks etc but until he gets to know folk can feel a little anxious. Social isolation is really taking the toll on him but due to neurodivergence, saying ‘go make some friends’ obviously is a challenge!

I'm feeling properly down and frustrated lately. I've always been someone who likes going out to things, as well as being quite happy in my own company. However recently I've found it so hard to find others who want to do the same things. Before Covid, I had quite a group of friends who were up for socialising, but coming out of that they all seemed to be settling down, getting married and having babies so busy with their own lives, so don't have the time any more.

Other people I know when asking if they want to go out either don't seem to respond or give vague answers like 'I'll let you know', and then never hear any more.

I like going to movies, concerts, theatre shows, meals out, quiz nights and escape rooms, the latter two of which isn't something you can really do on your own very easily. Rather than having to rely on my dad, it'd be nice to find others to have fun and be with.

Does anyone know of any social groups in the area, or any suggestions on basically finding new friends with similar interests?

All my friends from uni/college have moved away, got married etc and I can't get anyone out. I have tried a place called the lowdown and it wasn't really for me. I don't know what else to try. I have tried to find some with my interests (basketball, rock climbing) but none of them seem to be for adults or have no contact details.

hi, im in wf quite a lot and every time I get the bus there me and my friends see the same man. idk if he’s homeless but he walks up and down the bus stops and makes some weird movements, shouting often concerning things. observing him for a while ive caught up that he yells about killing people and weapons, making me think he could have ptsd. anyone knows who it is and why isnt the town doing anything to help him?
