the first picture (on the left) is before starting medications. the other one is a month later taking medications.

the medications are:

•abilify

•lustral (zoloft)

•tegretol

•nootropil

•akineton (cogentin)

•zyprexa

•medikinet retard

Is it normal to qeeg become like this after medications?

after taking medications i started to have symptoms like hearing sounds in a lower pitch, forgetfulness, cognitive slowing. I'm no more taking medications, they're gone and I'm back normal. But I'm wondering, were the medications really necessary? Because I was feeling alright and I didn't have depression/ADHD symptoms at all. And the qEeg seems to have gotten worse after medications if I'm not wrong?

I have quite intense emotional blunting from when 2.5mg of olanzapine was introduced while I was on effexor. I got off it and now I’m tapering the effexor very slowly. The anhedonia and sexual dysfunction came on very very slowly which I found odd. I have reduced sensation but still there and no libido/any chemical reactions but I still have normal function and very slowly came about, just no pleasure. My head feels like nothing now. I’m very slowly tapering effexor and it’s good that I’m still able to do things normally but for the ones who are off meds now, did this get better when you were on a really low dose or off? Or are you stuck in this?

It’s been 3 years or so and I’m still able to work, socialise, watch things but I don’t feel anything, the music aspect hurts the most. So do I have a chance of recovery? I just thought I would have noticed some changes while tapering.

Improvements after dosis reduction

I've made massive improvements after reducing my dose to the lowest possible one. (I take amisulpride. I reduced to 170mg from 200mg)

I have Motivation again and fun playing videogames. Its still not 100% but its only been 3 weeks on the new dose and last time it took me about 2 months to get improvements. I'm feeling very hopeful right now, gotta be honest. I wanted to share that. It will take some trial and error to get onto the perfect dose, but its worth it.

Hi everyone,
I’m currently on Xeplion (Invega/Paliperidone) 50mg (monthly depot) and I’m having a terrible time. I’m an ADHD student and a chess player, but since I started this medication, I feel like my brain has been "turned off."
My main issues with Xeplion:
• Cognitive death: I can’t do mental math/ calculate chess variants anymore. My working memory is gone.
• Avolition: I’m not self-sufficient. Even basic tasks feel like climbing Everest.
• Physical side effects: I’ve gained 20kg (44lbs) and I’m experiencing frequent urination/urgency and constipation.
• Emotional blunting: I feel like a ghost.
My psychiatrist is hesitant because he says Xeplion keeps me "stable," but my quality of life is zero. He will decide next Friday whether to switch me to Abilify Maintena (Aripiprazole) 400mg.
I have a few questions for those who made this specific switch or similar:

  1. Cognitive recovery: Did your "brain fog" clear up? Were you able to study or perform complex tasks (like chess or math) again?
  2. Energy levels: Did the "zombie feeling" disappear? How long did it take to feel "awake" again?
  3. The "Switch" process: Since Xeplion stays in the system for so long, how was the transition period? Did you feel "double-medicated" or did the Abilify kick in immediately?
  4. Side effects: Did you lose the weight gained on Invega? Did you experience Akathisia with Abilify?
  5. Urination and constipation: For those who had urinary urgency or constipation on Invega, did it resolve with Abilify?

I’m terrified that I’ll never be "normal" again or that my intelligence is permanently damaged. Any success stories (or honest warnings) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Anhedonie post-psychose

Just curious how many of you have a blank mind —meaning no stimulus, no complex thoughts, no emotions, no feelings, &/or substance block in addition to your anhedonia?

If so, what caused it, how long have you had it, and what have you tried?

I have this from 3 low dose pills of seroquel while also prescribed adderall 9 years ago.

What I’ve tried: exercise, diet, sobriety, time, sauna, cryotherapy, THC, LSD, psilocybin, DMT, ketamine, adderall, alpralozam, hydrocodone, nicotine, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, hypnotism, excessive list of supplements, betahistine, semax, selank, BPC157, KPV, GHK-Cu, TB-500, oxytocin, NSI189, LDN, afobazole, methylene blue, pregnenolone, tianeptine, agomelatine, MIF-1, tVNS, Neboglamine, D-Serine, Pramipexole (current)

I know everyone will say try an MAOI. I’m working on accessing one, but at this point I can’t see a substance working. I might try ECT soon out of desperation.

Does your anhedonia lift while dreaming?

Mine does. While dreaming, I can feel emotions and I can experience dopamine. After a vivid dream, this persists for a while upon waking.

Does anyone else experience the same?

I don't know where I'm going with this, but I find it interesting. Does it suggest that the waking anhedonia is not entirely chemical?
