Does anybody else miss the OLD MFM?
I used to really enough the weekly minisodes and longer weekly episodes and now when I go to play one of their episodes it’s either a blanket episode, pushing another podcast or talking about something that not a true crime / murder case?
I feel like even when I do find a worthwhile episode 30 minutes of it is just them giving themselves a pat on the back for being sooooo amazing?
Turns out ‘Baby Jessica’ is a menace to society. She’s been arrested multiple times including days ago for domestic violence and assault.
nypost.comEpisode discussions?
Hi! Are episode discussions not a thing anymore? I came searching for the most recent epi post to talk about Brian Shaffer because it’s my hometown (and I was so impressed with Georgia pronouncing Olentangy correctly!) but can’t find any posts for recent episodes. Did the mods decide to cut them for lack of engagement?
Are hotdogs a sandwich?
I mean... obviously I'm talking about the ones between the buns.
Moved into a building with shared laundry
I ran 3 loads of laundry so figured I'd consolidate and use the jumbo dryer to dry them all at once. Couldn't find the lint trap from the drum inside to clean it out first, but there was what looked like an openable panel on the bottom, so I pulled it open and found this treasure underneath.
I want to say it's months worth of buildup but knowing the traffic a shared laundry room sees I have no idea how much time it takes to accumulate cakes this big. that said, it was a very, very satisfying pull to remove them!

The Bible study kidnapper
This 1952 image of an unknown lady is part of a large amount of fairly recently discovered LAPD crime photos from the 1930s-1950s. The rest of them are quite hardcore but I've linked to it below if you want to see them.
Rare pupper Joey enjoying his hot dog toy (that he is very gentle with - he loves his toys)
Are you my people???
I change my Skelly's costume once a month. Only ONE Facebook friend has gotten this one. All my neighbors have just complimented me on the "Spring outfit."
But y'all are my people, right???
I Need To Talk About The Knife
Today’s episode sent me into a tailspin, and I need to know if my reaction is valid. I want to start by saying a few weeks ago, someone was in here somewhat complaining about how The Knife doesn’t platform, what really is, the “perfect” victim. They have some nuance that isn’t so black and white, and their victims have faults. I defended the show because nuance can be important, and victims don’t have to be perfect. Little miss devils advocate over here.
That being said, today’s episode was about two men. One man, Dusty, brought a girl, Jennifer Evans, to his car outside a bar. He knew his friend, Billy, was drunk and had a history of violence. Billy entered the car, and pretty much immediately choked and murdered the victim. The litigation was ongoing, judicially unfair towards Dusty, and the sentencing was bananas and Dusty ended up getting more time than Billy.
Here’s the thing. Dusty drove Jennifer’s body an hour away to bury her. Dusty went to the car to look for a shovel. He returned and Billy was committing necrophilia against Jennifer’s body. He never stopped the line. He *allegedly* tried to stop him once he began choking Jennifer, but that’s where it ended. Dusty engaged in the committing of gruesome and horrific acts.
The show platformed a woman who saw Dusty on the news and began to form an obsessive relationship with him. She was the narrator. She admitted to writing him, then emailing. Talking once a week, to once a day, to many times a day and he is her “best friend”. WHY ARE WE ACTING LIKE THIS IS NORMAL. Why is she our trusted narrator and source of information? Half of what she said was pure conjecture about what she thinks happened in the moment or how she thinks Dusty felt about the scenario at a given time.
Next week, Dusty himself will be on the show as he was just released in paraole. Dusty is, yes, an absolutely imperfect victim of a poor judicial system that fails daily. But why are we platforming his obsessive jailhouse romance girlfriend and then him?! Why are we not sharing a story from a more nonbiased yet thoroughly researched source?
ERM had a foundation of being victim-centered. Am I insane for thinking this is in horribly poor taste for the most important victim in the story?
Baby Jessica Arrested for Domestic Disturbance

TRIGGER WARNING for pedo behavior and other gross stuff
I'm watching the new documentary on warren jeffs- WHYYYYYY THE FUCK DO THEY HAVE TO SHOW PICTURES OF HIM MAKING OUT WITH CHILDREN?!?!!?!!?!? IN the first 30 seconds?!?!!? It's literally sexual abuse of children- how is that even legal to show? I get why people hate the true crime genre and it's documentaries like this. there is no need other than shock value to show pictures of children being abused like that
It feels like this type of material is getting worse. I watched a doc on jodie hildebrand and ruby franke and the footage they show of the children being abused was so invasive. then there was the "love has won" cult documentary showing an unblurred dead woman's face in the opening scene. then there was the chimp crazy with the body cam footage of a cop shooting a chimp
I was listening to a podcast where the hosts were like "they were minors, so their autopsies were sealed. the autopsies showed that they had been raped." like ladies? do you hear yourselves? show some respect for the dead, especially kids! (This podcast does an otherwise amazing job though)
idk I was a journalism major in a another life, and we were taught the ethics of reporting rape, abuse of minors, etc. and this is beyond. like...just because the information is out there, doesn't mean you have to, or should, show it
this genre has always been graphic, but jesus christ, tone it the fuck down.
rant over, going to rewatch The Chair Company
Texas Killing Fields huge breaking news. Two suspects. One died 11 days ago from suicide after detectives visited him in the hospital. The other was arrested yesterday. There’s talk of a 3rd accomplice but they said he is dead already.
Took just over 40 years but the families of the victims are getting some relief and peace. It’s still breaking with details but here is the latest. https://www.click2houston.com/news/local/2026/04/02/galveston-officials-say-significant-headway-has-been-made-in-unsolved-texas-killing-fields-case-after-new-arrest/
