I'm watching the new documentary on warren jeffs- WHYYYYYY THE FUCK DO THEY HAVE TO SHOW PICTURES OF HIM MAKING OUT WITH CHILDREN?!?!!?!!?!? IN the first 30 seconds?!?!!? It's literally sexual abuse of children- how is that even legal to show? I get why people hate the true crime genre and it's documentaries like this. there is no need other than shock value to show pictures of children being abused like that
It feels like this type of material is getting worse. I watched a doc on jodie hildebrand and ruby franke and the footage they show of the children being abused was so invasive. then there was the "love has won" cult documentary showing an unblurred dead woman's face in the opening scene. then there was the chimp crazy with the body cam footage of a cop shooting a chimp
I was listening to a podcast where the hosts were like "they were minors, so their autopsies were sealed. the autopsies showed that they had been raped." like ladies? do you hear yourselves? show some respect for the dead, especially kids! (This podcast does an otherwise amazing job though)
idk I was a journalism major in a another life, and we were taught the ethics of reporting rape, abuse of minors, etc. and this is beyond. like...just because the information is out there, doesn't mean you have to, or should, show it
this genre has always been graphic, but jesus christ, tone it the fuck down.
